Community notice board

Hi All East Dulwich now have 2 community notice boards, 1 by East Dulwich Station, the other on Northcross Road. If you would like to advertise a community event, on the board, please pm me.

How is a community event defined?

An event organised by a member of the community, which will benefit the community. eg Goose green fair, Dulwich Festival.

I walked past the one on Northcross Road the other day. It was completely empty. Might I suggest a notice is put in it explaining how people apply to have notices put in it? Not everyone reads the EDF!

There are issue with the lock at the moment, so we are just waiting for that to be addressed.

I think Monica is on holiday at the moment, and nobody else is dealing with the notice boards, however usually you can just take the flyer in to her at Health Matters on Lordship Lane and she will put it up for you if it's appropriate.

I have keys to the noticeboards.

If you email me a notice I'll place it or we can arrange to meet at a particualr notice board or you can post it to me via Southwark Council, 160 Tooley Street, SE1 2TZ.

The intended purpose of the community notice boards was exemplified at the start of this thread, to advertise Community events such as Goose green fair or Dulwich Festival.

The East Dulwich Community Centre, which hosts up to 50 different groups in a year, self rations to one standing poster on the Community Boards. The Barry Area Residents Association, which covers a third of East Dulwich does likewise.

All the above examples represent efficient use of the limited available space on the boards and the precious time of the individuals who volunteer to manage them, including our local councillor.

Individual classes cover a wide spectrum from voluntary to commercial, some being franchises turning a nice profit for the beneficiaries of a national business. If we allow use of the boards to one group how can we deny others?

Is advertising a specific class an appropriate use of the Community notice boards?
