Hi all

Hope you are all well, wanted to keep you posted on EDSNUB's new project, a community garden at Dulwich Hospital.

The project will hopefully start in September, subject to funding and will be run by the Vale residents Association in collaboration with EDSNUB. The new community garden will be at Dulwich hospital, just in front by the main entrance behind the hoarding. (hopefully the hoarding will be removed with the help of our lovely local councillors) The theme of the garden with be physic, using herbs and flowers to assault the senses, whilst sitting in a sea of colour and serenity.

Watch this space for updates

Thanks

Monica,

What a wonderful idea to bring something full of life to a now derelict space. I am sure that you will get a lot of support for local people willing to volunteer and supply plants and seeds. My wife and I have visited Chelsea Physic Gardens on a few occasions and it is one of the best tourist attractions in London. My wife has many years of experience of allotment growing which could be helpful to you, I will keep a close eye on your progress.

All the very best to you and hope that this will be a great success.

Hi All

Just wanted to update you on the progress of the garden project. Work will start in the next few weeks, on preparing the foundations, and designing the garden. We will also be asking for plant donations in the next few weeks. So if you are thinking of giving away any plants or seeds, flowering or herbs, please could you donate them to the garden project. Thanks

The project will be managed by the Vale residents association, in collaboration with Groundwork london and Mc Govern carpentry

And as always James Barber and Robin CrookshankHilton will be lending their support.

As always ED watch this space

Thanks

SNUB

Edited several times because of the increase in support for the project Ta chaps:)-D

Are milk thistle seeds any good to you?

The plants grow very tall and are extremely prickly, but very attractive as they have lovely big green and white mottled leaves. And then either purple or white big thistle-like flower heads.

Anyway I'm just beginning to collect seeds from mine.

Hi All

Just a reminder, that we will be asking donations soon. We are looking for plants suitable for planting from September. Plant spring-flowering bulbs, such as daffodils, hyacinths, and Marigolds.

So ED please (im begging with cap in hand)save your unwanted September plants for the community garden. Thanks:))

Monica and Heather,

My wife can donate a good number of Russian Comfrey plants from her allotment. Very healthy medicinal plants, used also for compost and plant feed and the type that does not reseed and take over the plot.

Please let us know when they you will be ready for them to plant up in the new garden.

All the best and kind regards.

    • This lot specialise in rescuing wild birds in London. They're brilliant! There's an emergency phone number to ring. https://www.londonwildlifeprotection.org/  Helen
    • Posh mummies and daddies with all the gear (gold helmets, trendy jackets, paniers fore and aft) love to brandish the kiddywinks they carry as a kind of carte blanche to cycle on footpaths, even when they’re right next to a cycle lane and/or a LTN. Resist! (Lycra-clad “professionals”, though, are often courteous and law-abiding, stopping at zebras and knowing their place is on the road and not the pavement.)
    • This is clearly far from a unique issue. Somebody posted this on Facebook and it is so similar to posts here I asked him if he was with Tessa Jowell - he said "no, Lewisham".  "This morning on the microsecond of 8am I tried to get through to my GP on the phone...it went straight through to Hold. Tried again. Same thing. Tried a third time...Same thing. OK, I thought, I will hold. 32 minutes later, I gave up. The voice said "Did you know you can now book appointments online?" NO YOU CAN'T...I have the Patient Access App & for the past 2 years it has said "This practice is unable to book appointments online." Anyhooooo...on way back from shops I popped into the actual surgery to see if I could book an appointment in advance...that was my second mistake...Receptionist said "No. You will have to ring up on a Monday morning to see if we have any for that week" "Oh, and what time should I ring?" "It's best to ring at 8am" "But i just spent 32 minutes this morning on hold and couldn't even get through" "Yeah, sorry about that, we are short-staffed at the moment...but did you kn ow you can now book appointments in advance online?" "No, you can't" "Well, there are sometimes some appointments available online" "Nope, no there aren't...looked every day for 2 years and not a scintilla of an appointment..." "Well, you could always ring up at 8am" "You do know the whole system is completely falling to pieces?" Receptionist gives rueful look. In case I lost it and set fire to the whole fecking GP Practice there and then, I left. I will try again tomorrow morning at 8am. And see if Dr Godot will see me...We are well and truly f****d, peoples."
