Bike Train to central London July 20th

Recommended Posts

?It?s like being given the keys to the City? ? that?s the comment of one Bike Trainer on arrival at Blackfriars Bridge. Come with us and see for yourself. Arrive happy and with a sense of achievement before 9am.

We leave Nunhead Station at 8am and meet other riders at 8.10 at the bike stands near Peckham Rye Station (behind McDonalds). A branch line starts from Denmark Hill Station at 8.10am (meet outside the cafe in Windsor Walk). Text Liz on 0781 451 5715 to let her know you?re coming.

Our route includes two parks, a traffic-calmed backstreet, the on-pavement cycle lanes on the New Kent Road, the Elephant and Castle cycling bypass and the lovely new segregated lanes to the river. We arrive at Blackfriars at 8.45am.

From there it?s easy and safe to go on to Farringdon, Mayfair, Westminster and the Tower. We offer buddy rides to all these places and escorted rides back, arranged individually. All fun and free.

To take part, just turn up or text me on 07842 640 207 or mail [email protected]. All welcome. The only thing you need to bring with you is a bike. More info from Southwark Cyclists here: southwarkcyclists.org.uk/

    • And what would you suggest for cyclists that also flout the rules?  Crush their bikes at the same facility that crushes errant drivers cars ?  Same rules and punishment must  apply to all road users (except runaway horses of course)
    • I'm looking for a guitar teacher for my 17 year old son. In terms of music that he likes, he says he's interested in learning fingerpicking (although I guess he needs to learn the basics first!). He listens to quite a lot of acoustic guitar stuff as well as indie stuff, has a curious interest in Japanese pop and loves folk too. Ideally we would be looking for someone who could do one-to-one lessons at my flat, which is 5 minutes walk from Honor Oak tube station.
    • Enforcement for both drivers and cyclists low priority for the police and our local politicians. Not my decision.  I'd happily make those that don't know or bother with mirror signal manoeuvre, or cut corners, resit their test, but that would be 90 percent of drivers so would overwhelmed the system and lead to civil unrest.  A more straightforward response would be to put the car in a crusher but that would be even less popular.  I'll consult the old testament to see what else could be done
    • The rubbish in Sainsbury's bags is from a house across the road, this is considered fly-tipping, have other photos with garden rubbish, paint bucket and BBQ, this has been happening for a long time!
