Bike Train December 14th -- new earlier start

The award-winning Southwark Cyclists Bike Train runs again on Wednesday. The (free!) service is running once a month till Spring. The arrival of Spring will be determined empirically. We will conduct a careful and thorough examination of the weather. Some arrangements have changed as a result of the Bike Train Survey which showed demand for an earlier start..

An earlier start there therefore is.

Fifteen minutes earlier. We start at 7.45 am from Nunhead Station and pick up riders from Peckham Rye station (from the bike stands behind McDonalds) at 7.55am. We are joined by riders from Denmark Hill who leave that station at 7.55am (from outside the cafe in Windsor Walk) and join the train in Burgess Park.

We cycle through two parks, north along a traffic-calmed backstreet, onto the pavement-cycling lanes along the New Kent Road, around the Elephant and Castle bypass and then onto the lovely new TfL segregation all the way to Blackfriars. Arrival time approx 8.30am. On time every time. Fun and free.

To book your seat at Denmark Hill text Liz Eden on 07814 515 715. Don?t turn up without warning at Denmark Hill because this branch line will be demand-led (management speak for ?may not run if there are no passengers?). For Peckham or Nunhead contact me on 07842 640 207 ? or don?t book anything at all and just turn up. All welcome. Free.

    • Hello all, Please excuse me/feel free to remove the comment if this isn’t the appropriate place for it. I am an East Dulwich resident writing a story for the South East Londoner (https://www.selondoner.co.uk) about the problems patients are facing with the service at Tessa Jowell GP Surgery and the Health Centre. I would like to speak with people currently or formerly registered with the practice to learn more about their experiences. This story won’t seek to single out or ‘have a go’ at individuals – by most accounts the quality of care for those who do get an appointment is good – but will look at the quality of service and why it seems to be worsening.  If you would like to speak to me, you can email [email protected] and we can arrange an interview. If you’d like to check who I am first, my editor Tom Holmes can be reached at [email protected] I will also post this on the East Dulwich Forum Facebook group. Thank you, Harry Hetherington
    • Whoever owns it obviously doesn't need the rent.
    • Am a power wheelchair user and whilst on the pavement cyclists expect me to make way for them
    • I agree with Head Nun. My experience is very similar and has been so for the 25 years I've lived in London. They got a lot worse after the Tour de France came here though. And then the Olympics.
