Mindful eating retreat day Sat 21/1, 11:15-3pm, Camberwell

Recommended Posts

Do you struggle to maintain a healthy diet or avoid unnecessary snacking?

Do you always stop when enough is enough?

Do you forget to appreciate lovely food when you have it?

Eating is so intimately linked to emotions, habits, and health that it can easily be the first place we notice something is out of balance.

On this retreat you we will discover:

- The different kinds of hunger we experience

- The body-felt feedback cues that can guide your decisions to begin and end eating

- How to engage all your senses in the act of eating so that eating can become both satisfying to you and nourishing for your body

- How to prepare and cook food mindfully

We will all participate in preparing the food we will eat during the retreat. All the costs of the food are included in the price.

The day will also include a number of different mindfulness practices, including some still meditation and some mindful movement.

Cost ?40 (?30 conc)

"Unlike diets, mindful eating teaches us to change our eating patterns step by step... [it] doesn?t tell us what to eat or what not to eat. It doesn?t provide us with any rules or orders. Instead it trains our innate ability to tune into our bodies cues and learn to read these signals telling us when it?s time to eat, how much to eat and when to stop eating. It teaches us the skills to tap into our hunger and fullness awareness, to better develop our taste satiety and trains our ability to slow down while eating, thus tasting our food mindfully."

    • Shifting focus slightly away from Sainsburys, for anyone who may do their shopping elsewhere we also have customer donation boxes at Lidl in Peckham and the M&S by East Dulwich Station.  If anyone knows of any other store locations that might be amenable to customer collection box (who don't already have one), please let us know, or if anyone might be up for organising a collection at work, at school, at your place of worship, or any one of a long list of other places in support of Albrighton Community Fridge, and you need some support in organising it, please get in touch.  It is a daily struggle to maintain a large enough food supply at the moment, so we are incredibly grateful for all support.
