OK we know we shouldn?t have favourites, but IF we did, then Stick in the Wheel would deffo be amongst them!

They blew us away the first time we ever saw them live, and they have continued to do so ever since.

?Stick In The Wheel have a knack for breathing fresh life into well-worn traditional material. Their reading of Seven Gypsies doesn?t really do much to alter the content, but the delivery somehow makes it sound new? ? FRUK

?There is a pleasingly raw, simple and authentic sound to their music? ? Bright Young Folk

? Folk revivalists with a punk attitude? ? The Guardian

As always, Stick have been doing some really innovative things lately, including curating ?From Here? ? an album featuring new field recordings by Jon Boden, John Kirkpatrick, Martin Carthy, Spiro, Eliza Carthy, Fay Hield, Sam Lee, Fran Foote (SITW), Jack Sharp (Wolf People), Nicola Kearey (SITW), Men Diamler, Bella Hardy, Stew Simpson, Lisa Knapp, Peta Webb & Ken Hall, Sam Sweeney and Rob Harbron.

Last time Stick were at The Ivy House, they were supporting Jim Causley and it will be great to see them headlining here in their own right. Hooray!

    • Can't help thinking that regardless of whether Joe wanted to be interviewed, the 'story' that Southwark News wanted to write just got a lot less interesting with 'tyre shop replaced with ... tyre shop'!
    • Labour are proposing to nationalise the railways, (passenger trains but not fright)  Whilst it removes them from shareholders control, and potential profit chasing, is it workable or will it end up costing tax payers more in the long run?  On paper the idea is interesting but does it also need the profitable freight arm included to help reduce fares,?
    • Another recommendation here for Jason.  He came to plaster over a section of ceiling that we had to remove in order to investigate a leak.  He is a really lovely guy, easy to get in touch with and great communication.  He was quick, tidy and competitively priced.  Very happy and I'd have no hesitation in recommending him to anyone.
