sociable cycle ride Saturday May 26th

Recommended Posts

This is part of our series of weekly Saturday morning rides. This one starts at 10am from Peckham Square and ends two hours later at 12 noon in the same place. Peckham Square is the open space between Peckham Library and the Pulse(SE15 5JR)

The route goes out and back to Look Mum No Hands, the original cycle cafe: http://www.lookmumnohands.com. A place where cycling is normal -- we're getting there but we haven't got there yet.

The group will ride across Burgess Park, along Walworth Green Link and then the back streets to CS7 and Southwark Bridge. On the other side of the river riders will take quiet roads across City (empty on a Saturday morning)and past the Barbican, to Old St.

There should be time for a coffee break -- may be warm enough to sit outside, the forecast temperature is 24C -- then the return ride will go back the same way. That's a total of 10 miles, the route is here:

for anyone who wants to try it but can't make Saturday morning. This is always a popular ride, nice easy pace, excellent coffee.

These rides are organised by Bruce Lynn on behalf of Southwark Cyclists who are the borough branch of the London Cycling Campaign which campaigns for safer, enjoyable cycling in London. Everything we do is free. You don't need to be an LCC member or live in the borough (though it is a good idea to live somewhere. https://southwarkcyclists.org.uk

I'm making a point of the above because we are being shadowed by a pretend group which is pretending to be us. Sounds ridiculous and indeed it is. The only serious point to take on board is that Bruce and his ride leaders are insured when running rides and you are too if you go on them. The pretend group leaders seem to be pretending that they are covered by our insurance. They are not.

Forget them and enjoy.
