Free bike maintenance workshop with tuition December 4th

Southwark Cyclists and Lettsom Tenants & Residents Association (henceforth TRA) are holding free bike maintenance sessions with tuition and hands on assistance. You can bring your bike in for a free check-up; come and learn the basics of bike maintenance, or just drop in for a chat about anything bike-related. You can be as clueless as me -- all grades of cycling expertise tolerated and encouraged. You can be an expert, they like a challenge.

The whole operation is free ? you don?t need to live on the Lettsom or even in Southwark. You will need a bike. It doesn't need to have all the bits though they can't be mended unless you acquire them. The man in charge is Bruno whom many people will have met on our summer Dr Bikes. You can bring that bike you found at the back of the shed. He's not afraid of spiders

The sessions start on December 4th 6.30-8.30pm and will be a mix (depending on need) of teaching (this is how you change brakes) and hands-on assistance. They will be held in the Lettsom TRA hall. The official address is 114 Vestry Road SE5 8PQ. But like all estates the numbering and street names can be quite a mystery. The only way found to describe it so far is that it?s just up the hill from the parade of shops, and then down a passage :) Go on be brave. Pic of hall to follow.

All welcome. Free to all. After the 4th they will be every 1st and third Tuesday except in January when they will be the 8th and 22nd. Queries to [email protected]

    • Nauris and his team have done fantastic work in our garden for the second year. Last year, they sanded, oiled the deck and did an immaculate job of paving the area around the deck. Then two weeks ago, I asked Nauris if he could build a garden shed, sand and oil the deck and paint and repair the fences. Again, another excellent job and he was great at fitting in a couple of small fixes. We are really pleased with the shed which is well made and painted and blends in well to the garden. Nauris is really respectful and always left everything tidy in the evening and spotlessly clean at the end of the job. Nauris also provided a clear quote for the work at the beginning.  I recommend Nauris Graudins (and his team) very highly - [email protected]
    • So who actually checks that the above is followed - are there going to be "surprise" inspections ?
    • We have used Aria and AFE Plumbing for many years on a number of jobs - installing new taps and showerhead, unblocking pipes.  He is always quick to respond and able to swiftly attend to the issue, easy to communicate with, and makes sure the job gets done. Definitely recommended.
    • Well you've said i'm taking a pro cash stance too far. Perhaps not twisting- i used the wrong words but you are putting words in my mouth no? I'm not one for tech, that's for sure but how do you come to the conclusion i'm pro cash? I merely pointed out that cashless and using cards / card readers/ oyster readers/ and other terminals etc aren't risk free. If i was pro cash i wouldn't be using a card on occasions. Indeed. You can say that again. Irony and self awareness not your strong point is it? Indeed. Just as well you're not the judgemental type hey!!   What a strange and arrogant entity you are.
