Dear book group,

Eyvie Wyld, a local author was on radio four's book club. We read her book:
"After the Fire, a Still Small Voice." some time ago and Eyvie came to our meeting even though she wasn't feeling too good. Here is a link to the pod cast:

Also we have the Blake room in the Clockhouse booked for 24th August. Some time in the near future we can look at changing to the snug or at least trying it and see how we feel about moving.

Do listen to the podcast if you can it's very interesting.

Rebecca Carlton has a blog which may be of interest, only a few of you will have met as she has only recently been to a meeting:

[ramblingrebecca.com]

Till the 24th.

Dear book group,

There is a strong possibility that Rob Shearman who wrote our last book Love Songs for The Shy & Cynical will come to our September meeting.

[en.wikipedia.org]

Evie Wylde, a local author is going to come to our November meeting if we read her second novel, All The Birds Singing:

Recently Evie was on the radio four book club with James Naughtie, here is a link and you can down load the pod cast:

The above have yet to be confirmed, we can decide a date for November and Evie Wylde on the 21st September.

Till then.

Dear book group,

Good news, Rob Shearman will be coming to our meeting next Wednesday so do please come along.

[en.wikipedia.org]

I suggest we discuss Beloved first then talk to Rob about his book of short stories, writing in general and Dr Who, Rob did some script writing for Dr Who. So it should be an interesting meeting.

I am struggling with Beloved but intend to finish.

Till Wednesday,

Dear Book group,

Many thanks to those of you who came fro our end of year meal, a thoroughly good night.
We have had a good year with three mainstream authors coming to see us, Michel Faber, Rob Shearman and Evie Wylde. We also had a local philosopher come in to lead a discussion on consciousness after we read a book on atoms and where they come from. We are stardust.

Thanks for your continued support. I have benefited from having such a large genre of books to read.
The radio four book club has also been fun and we may well go back next year.

So all the best for Christmas and the new year.

The next meeting is January 18th in the Clockhouse. The book H is for Hawk took a bit of getting into but now I am thoroughly enjoying it.

Hoots & haggis,
