Sorry - Nicolas wins over G&B every time.
I love French wine and know a little bit about it as we holiday there most years - I like the way Nicolas sets its wines out by French region so I have an idea of what they might taste like. Sometimes I'll go for Bordeaux (with steak), or Burgundy or Rhone depending on the occaision.

The prices in Nicolas are completely clear. I know what I want to spend each time I go in there. Usually £6 - £10 and there is lots of choice at that price.

They have a bargain basement discounted wine as you walk in the door and in recent credit crunch times I have been buying that wine more and more as it is really reasonable.

Green and Blue - I just find completley confusing - it is set out by taste (I think ?) but generally I just want old world wines and I'm afraid the G&B set up has never worked for me.

I think if you have to ask for help then thats a bad thing - it should be self explanatory - and as Keef says when you ask for help you end up saying yes to a bottle of wine that is above what you wanted to pay - so I just don't go in there.

I don't remember ever buying a £23 bottle of wine in Nicolas but you can get a good Bordeaux for £10-£15 - for me that is perfect price/quality ratio.

I understand what you say Lilly but these buidings are designed like most blocks of flats in the world. The principle is that the building should contain fires in the rooms where they start to give occupants time to escape. Believe it or not, often the safest place for people in flats not affected by the fire is inside their flat with the door closed. The problems arise when the safety measures are compromised - ie through neglect, poor workmanship, bad house-keeping, wedging open doors, breaches in the fire resisting structure through pipes and ducts not properly sealed. A similar fire in Birmingham a few years back that spread through the floors was made worst due to holes in the ceilings of the flats not being repaired properly. If the Council are to be implicated - and an enquiry would reveal this - then I wouldn't be surprised if it is through these kind of issues, and not because they didn't provide an alternative means of escape (which is practically very difficult in high rises)

ok i know what you are saying is true, so say these people had fire alarms, and the they found out that they had no where to run to because of no fire exits, i know there are no fire exits in these flats.so they had fire alarms and what next because no fire exits? i know it is not your fault but the fault of southwark council, they should make sure that all of their tenants have some sort of safety/exit in case of a fire.

Hiya - that sounds awful - I've not had any experience specifically with eczema during pregnancy but have you tried a cream called 'Hope's Relief'. It costs £12.95ish, quite pricey but worth it in my experience - you buy it at shops like Healthmatters on Lordship Lane or online, Holland and Barrett don't do it. I bought some for my baby's eczema and it worked better [no exaggeration!!!] than the Hydrocortizone, which was the only thing that worked before I tried this [and I tried alot of prescribed creams and lotions too]. If you're strapped for cash you're welcome to borrow ours for a while and therefore try before you buy. It has pretty much cleared up my baby's eczema, and all natural ingredients so won't harm little baba inside. Whatever you do, hope you find some relief from the horrid itching soon.

I'm in the fire brigade and this tragedy shows how fire can be utterly devastating. Stay safe - fit/check smoke alarms in your homes (if you want more advice on this, PM me) and if you're in public buildings - blocks of flats, hotels etc, and you see a fire door wedged open - remove the wedge and close it behind you. These doors will hold back smoke and fire for at least 30 minutes - provided they are shut!
