Following the most recent round of exams, I’m delighted that pupils I worked with received offers and interview invitations from schools including Alleyn’s, Dulwich College, JAGS, St Dunstan’s, Colfe’s, Trinity, Sydenham High School and Streatham & Clapham High School, as well as grammar school offers.

Across the cohort this year eight 11+ scholarships were awarded, which was wonderful to see after all of the children’s hard work.

Preparing for selective school exams can feel overwhelming for both children and parents, so my focus is always on providing clear structure, strong foundations and growing confidence throughout the process.

Over the years I’ve supported many families not only with academic preparation, but also with understanding the different exam formats, timelines and interview processes used by London’s independent and grammar schools.

Tuition is structured around a personalised programme of preparation, tailored to each child’s strengths, areas for development and the specific requirements of their target schools.

Parents often ask when the best time to begin preparation is. In many cases, starting in Year 4 or early Year 5 allows enough time to build strong foundations and confidence before the exam year, although I also support pupils who begin later in the process.

I’m Chloe Ratnatunga, a former teacher, Phase Leader for EYFS and KS1, Assistant Principal and Educational Consultant. I am also a local mum to two little boys.

Our son is 15, on the autism spectrum with (medicated) ADHD, very cheerful and friendly. He's developed an interest in music and has been 'teaching' himself to play piano by picking out tunes on his iPad for a while, so by way of experiment we got him a high-range toy piano (full size keys, just not the full range), which he's also playing. We took him for an assessment with an SN-specialist piano teacher who said he had a good feel for it, and he loved the lesson, so now we're seeking someone who lives locally.

Experience with autism/ADHD is an advantage but not a necessity; teachers used to younger children will probably do fine with him. He's keen to learn, and would have a parent with him in the lesson to help support any SN issues.

My RS GCSE results last year are as follows - I taught 50 students across two classes and achieved 58% grades 9-7 and 88% achieved grades 9-4. Most notably, I helped a student jump from a grade 3 to a 7, and another from a grade 4 to an 8. My recent set of A Level results were 1xA*, 7xA, 6xB and 1xC grade. I pride myself in fantastic teaching and learning practice, with a strong focus on exam technique, and I work successfully with students across all abilities.
