My post keeps being deleted

Beauty Wagon

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

I have been posting on the East Dulwich forum for quite a while now to advertise my business, however my last few posts seem to have been deleted and I am unsure of why this is.

I am a mobile beauty therapist advertising my services in the Dulwich area and have never come across my posts being removed before.

I have emailed the admin team 4 days ago and still have not had any response, The below post is my advertisement

I am a fully qualified and insured mobile beauty therapist. I specialise in Waxing, Nails, Threading, Spray-tans, Facials, Massages, Lash & Brow tints.

I provide a professional and high quality beauty service in the comfort and privacy of your own home, at a time that is most convenient for you and your lifestyle. You can be assured you will recieve the best quality service.

New clients will receive 10% off their first treatment.

For a price list, information about treatments or to make an appointment please take a look at the following:

Please could you tell me why this is happening?

Kind Regards

Hi Pickle,

I have read all terms and conditions for advertising on here, my posts are on the same thread, and will only put be updated by myself when I have special offers on treatments which is on average every 2-3 months (on same thread) plus my clients tend to leave reviews on the same thread to recommend me.

To be honest I am very dissapointed that I am abiding by the rules of the forum and live in the dulwich area and still no one from the admin team has contacted me to give me a specific reason as to why my post is suddenly a problem, as in my mind I am advertising correctly. I had a client who tried to leave a review for me yesterday but unfortunately could not find my thread- which as you can probably understand, is extreamly frustrating when you own a small business, and you rely on clients reviews of recommendations.

Overall I am just very dissapointed in this forum and that admin are choosing to ignore my e-mails.

Sorry you're disappointed with the forum, I guess you get what you pay for eh? And we haven't chosen to ignore your emails, we just haven't seen them.

Read the rules, you don't put your address on there so they get deleted. Multiple offenses results in a ban.

There was a post on here which seems to have been deleted:

"Username: LocalDeals

Subject: Re: My post keeps being deleted

I've had problems with admin also, can be quite rude and seem to only delete the posts they feel like deleting rather than abiding by the rules themselves"

-----------------

LocalDeals. you asked why your posts were being deleted as you said you weren't breaking any rules. I replied "bumping", which was shorthand for "you're posting 'still for sale' on your thread everyday which is excessive bumping up the posts, which is against the rules", in fact here is that rule ...

- Do not continually post messages to get your item for sale back to the top of the list ... Excessive "still for sale" posters will have all their messages deleted without warning.

You had 3 or 4 of your recent messages deleted so you can imagine it's very annoying when someone breaks the rules and are mildly punished, but then fire back and say we're quite rude and we don't abide by the rule. Please remember we provide a free service and it's volunteers that keep the place tidy, we have better things to do than repeatedly tidy up after the ungrateful.

Hi,

My post has been deleted as well.

Someone called Jenny suggested me to move my add from For Sale & Items Offered in ED to EDT businesses, restaurants,& Trades. So the next day I did.

In the meantime my add has been deleted from EDT businesses thread as well.

I have not been advertising excessively and still don't know what was that I did wrong.

PS. Yes I did read the rules.

Thanks for your answer.

Arrgghhh, what is it with people this week!?!

Look, your adverts did not contain your address*. The first rule of the businesses section is "- Businesses must be based in East Dulwich and they must state their (trading) address. Failure to do this results in a deleted post."

You posted in in the ED issues section as well as the for sale section.

As a well as reading the rules you need to understand them, which as an NLP coach should be easy.

    • all I said was "take a pro cash stance too far" - what twisting have I done?   plenty of good arguments for retention of cash - but let's not get too detached from reality either lest we go back to trading livestock   But to go back to your post DD:   "Or don't stop using cash" Yep plenty of people will agree with this - nothing controversial here   "Stop using your phone or even your watch as a banknote" - getting a bit weird now - why not - it's super convenient for both users and businesses. And far easier to keep a track of your balance using your electronic wallet than old systems of cheques taking days to clear, how much did I take from cashpoint 2 days ago etc. But people will differ so whatever works   "God only knows how much damage we're doing to the planet because all the above must require a hell of a lot of resources and juice from the grid" - big straw man argument here. Why bring this in? Unless you are also suggesting we don't buy any goods not made from within a 5 mile radius and nothing transported by air or sea? "a big lump of plastic with a screen and full of personal information that can be easily gleamed." I've had my phone stolen but nothing was lost because it was secure.I've been mugged and lost cash and valuable. It's not a binary thing   "your sky rocket with a phone in your hand. It's become a source of dopamine for many. It's an addiction for many."  Proper overreaching now There is a reason people like their modern phones - and it isn't just replacing cash. Replacing all of these functions in a tiny device is a magnificent achievement and to just boil  it down to "big lump with a screen" is reductive in the extreme
    • I agree with the posts that housing is an urgent need in Peckham and throughout Southwark. But as Alice says, it’s the percentage of social / affordable housing that matters. In October last year, there were over 4,200 households on the Council’s waiting list for housing in Peckham alone (over 17 thousand across Southwark). But the developer is only offering 35% affordable housing (which means that 65% will be unaffordable). Both Southwark Council and the GLA say that a big development like this should provide 50% affordable housing.   Re-development of the site is a great opportunity to make the town centre “cleaner, safer and more sustainable and welcoming” (borrowing Nigello’s great words). Is this dense development going to do that, when it provides no real green and open space where people can spend time outside and nature can help us tackle the growing problems of climate change like absorbing flood water, cooling the air on baking summer days? Are 7-storey buildings along Rye Lane (where the average buildings are 2-3 storeys) going to be welcoming to users of the town centre? How will the development impact on Peckham’s economy? Currently there is busy daytime commercial activity of shops providing for different demographics and needs including a rich offering of international groceries and other products, alongside a thriving night-time economy. I can’t see anything in the proposal that suggests how it will enhance and empower the local economy. Yes please, let’s have a great development on this site that enhances the town centre. This means not letting the developer get away with packing people into dense blocks that turn their back on the town centre and which will be a recipe for urban decay in the long run. Peckham deserves better than this!
