Trekking poles

Hi,

I need to buy a pair of trekking/walking poles for a holiday coming up in the Canaries. Can anyone suggest the best lightweight type for an average height woman and, if so, is there a shop in the vicinity that sells them? Finches in Forest Hill are all out of poles, unfortunately.

Thanks in advance!

I have some Black Diamond poles from one of the outdoors shops in Covent Garden and they've been great. If you don't need anything fancy my partner got some much cheaper ones from Decathlon at Canada Water and she's been fine with them. In case you're not aware, you'll probably need to check them for the flight - the airlines view them as weapons.

Thanks for the suggestions - all informative. A very kind local person has offered me a pair for free, which I will be picking up at the weekend.
