Until the lighter nights come in, I wondered if anyone had any good routes they jog around Dulwich that feels safe in the evenings.

Always a dilemma - pollution on busy roads v mugging on quiet ones................

Jogging round Dulwich and most places is pretty safe I reckon. I've been running round Dulwich and further afield for years whether it is dark or light. Stick to main roads if you are worried but the side streets have always been fine too. I don't run through the park when it is dark as I would find that a bit scary.

I do take some precautions though, the main ones being that I do not run with headphones in and I do not have a mobile phone visible.

Another option would be to run with a club like Dulwich Park Runners who are very friendly and there are always loads of people running in a pack.

There is also Runhead running club based in Nunhead

and I think there is now a group going from the EDT one night a week.

Here are some short routes.
Just over 2 miles - from corner of Lordship Lane/ Court Lane, down Court Lane, Left into Village, through Village, left onto South Circular, up South Circ, Left onto Lordship Lane back to where you started.

1.6 miles - Around the edge of Peckham Rye - you don't need to enter the park.

Hope this helps.

That's really helpful, thank you. I'll give it a go

I used to do laps at the Herne Hill cycle track, one time home of the Herne Hill Harriers. On Burbage Road.

Strange, is it not,
That of those who travel the doors of darkness through,
Not one returns to tell us of the way,
Which to discover, we must travel too.
