Wayne24
Does anyone know what the heck happened with this failed venture?
jimbo1964
I was thinking the same. Did it ever actually open?
goldilocks
They opened but then had to close to re work some of the electrics and said they'd re open later. Not sure since then whether any of the work has been done and whether they have a reopening date ready? There was a thread though that they were commenting on so you could ask on that if you search? DulwichFox
It opened for 3 - 4 days but as I understand it, the electrics failed. Should of been rewired before all the building works were carried out. Bit late now. Sounds like it will all need redoing. Its what happens when you take short cuts. tiddles
And why are you assuming they took short cuts? Sounds like bad luck to me. I wish them all the best and look forward to their re-opening.

This would seem to me wasn't done.

julesheaton
Hi Wayne Thanks for the message. We haven't 'failed' because we haven't opened yet! We had an issue with the power and gas nothing to do with rewiring or general electrics. The whole building was completely rewired as part of the renovation. Those issues are now sorted. We have also spent the quiet months of Jan and Feb renovating the upstairs function room which is looking great. It's not quite finished yet but when it is we will be opening with a very tasty menu and look forward to seeing you hopefully. Cheers Jules

julesheaton
Hi DulwichFoxIt's Nick here, Jules' husband. Just to let you know I've worked on building sites in Lancashire from the age of 13 (and I'm 50 now) so I'm incredibly offended and insulted that anybody would suggest I've 'taken shortcuts' especially from someone who has no facts or knowledge about what has happened over the last 9 months. My team and I have worked tirelessly renovating a rotten building. As for taking shortcuts it's currently cost me the best part of ?300,000 so people publicly spreading lies and untruths is unhelpful to say the least. However given your concern about the 'shortcuts' that I've apparently taken, I'd like to invite you to come into the restaurant next week to see for yourself the 'shortcuts' that you accuse me of taking. Please let me know when you would like to come and look around the building and I'll personally give you a guided tour. I would also like to invite anyone else who feels compelled to speculate about our new venture to come in and have a look too! Thanks Nick DulwichFox Wrote:-------------------------------------------------------> It opened for 3 - 4 days but as I understand it,> the electrics failed. > > Should of been rewired before all the building> works were carried out.> > Bit late now. JoeLeg
Hi Nick,Foxy has form (a lot of form) for spouting utter garbage about stuff he knows nothing about, as you?ve just experienced, particularly where the hospitality industry is concerned (he seems to think we all make a fortune off the back of huge profit margins, hahahahaaaah, oh Foxy you do make me laugh...). I wouldn?t take it personally, but nor would I expect an apology.Good luck with Saucy, I?ve been involved with enough new openings to know how things can go sideways with no warning. DulwichSal
Really pleased to hear that entrepreneurs are prepare to (and are able to ) put right years of neglect which you can?t see at site survey. Having just bought a hotel in Suffolk that all surveys said was in good nick... and we know how that can go. It?s cost us a similar amount of money but we are delighted to invest in the community there. You would think ED locals would be happy that people will take a risk. Shameless speculation can really tar a business but more and more real people find it less credible. Wishing you the best and will be in as soon as we can. DulwichFox
I have not replied due to ill health. I took a break before Xmas because of serious illness. I have been in Hospital and had a procedure which could or could not extend my life. After 2 CT Scans, 1 MRI Scan, 4 endoscopies 4 biopsies and a surgical procedure Kings have not been able to ascertain If I have a Life threatening malignant IPMN in my Pancreatic Duct. or what is called a Pancreas divisum which is a congenital anomaly (an anomaly that is present at birth) of the pancreatic duct(s). I have had a Stent inserted that will need another operation to remove. They may insert another stent which will require a 3rd operation to remove. I am in intense pain and my pancreas may need to be removed leaving me dependent on insulin and digestive enzymes. How ever Kings do not think I am well enough to survive that procedure. So I'm sorry but I have more things to worry about than that of when a new restaurant will reopen Chances are I will not be here by the time it does. I will say no more on the subject. I trust you will give me a break. I suspect there are a couple of people here that will continue to kick a man when he's down. DF
