What exactly is going on at SAUCY?

They opened but then had to close to re work some of the electrics and said they'd re open later. Not sure since then whether any of the work has been done and whether they have a reopening date ready? There was a thread though that they were commenting on so you could ask on that if you search?

Well when you rewire any building you do it when the floors are up and the ceilings are down.

Wiring goes in the walls before they are re-plastered.

This would seem to me wasn't done.

Hi Wayne

Thanks for the message. We haven't 'failed' because we haven't opened yet! We had an issue with the power and gas nothing to do with rewiring or general electrics. The whole building was completely rewired as part of the renovation. Those issues are now sorted.

We have also spent the quiet months of Jan and Feb renovating the upstairs function room which is looking great. It's not quite finished yet but when it is we will be opening with a very tasty menu and look forward to seeing you hopefully.

Cheers

Jules

Hi DulwichFox

It's Nick here, Jules' husband. Just to let you know I've worked on building sites in Lancashire from the age of 13 (and I'm 50 now) so I'm incredibly offended and insulted that anybody would suggest I've 'taken shortcuts' especially from someone who has no facts or knowledge about what has happened over the last 9 months. My team and I have worked tirelessly renovating a rotten building. As for taking shortcuts it's currently cost me the best part of ?300,000 so people publicly spreading lies and untruths is unhelpful to say the least. However given your concern about the 'shortcuts' that I've apparently taken, I'd like to invite you to come into the restaurant next week to see for yourself the 'shortcuts' that you accuse me of taking. Please let me know when you would like to come and look around the building and I'll personally give you a guided tour.

I would also like to invite anyone else who feels compelled to speculate about our new venture to come in and have a look too!

Thanks

Nick

Hi Nick,

Foxy has form (a lot of form) for spouting utter garbage about stuff he knows nothing about, as you?ve just experienced, particularly where the hospitality industry is concerned (he seems to think we all make a fortune off the back of huge profit margins, hahahahaaaah, oh Foxy you do make me laugh...).

I wouldn?t take it personally, but nor would I expect an apology.

Good luck with Saucy, I?ve been involved with enough new openings to know how things can go sideways with no warning.

Perhaps the dulwichfox has a touch of the 'dunning-kruger effect'?

Really pleased to hear that entrepreneurs are prepare to (and are able to ) put right years of neglect which you can?t see at site survey. Having just bought a hotel in Suffolk that all surveys said was in good nick... and we know how that can go. It?s cost us a similar amount of money but we are delighted to invest in the community there. You would think ED locals would be happy that people will take a risk. Shameless speculation can really tar a business but more and more real people find it less credible.

Wishing you the best and will be in as soon as we can.

On past form, he will be quiet for a bit then carry on as if nothing has happened.

When presented with actual facts he doesn't generally respond, let alone apologise.

It's a bit like Donald Trump but more boring.

I have not replied due to ill health.

I took a break before Xmas because of serious illness.

I have been in Hospital and had a procedure which could or could not extend my life.

After 2 CT Scans, 1 MRI Scan, 4 endoscopies 4 biopsies and a surgical procedure

Kings have not been able to ascertain If I have a Life threatening malignant IPMN in my Pancreatic Duct.

or what is called a Pancreas divisum which is a congenital anomaly (an anomaly that is present at birth) of the pancreatic duct(s).

I have had a Stent inserted that will need another operation to remove.

They may insert another stent which will require a 3rd operation to remove.

I am in intense pain and my pancreas may need to be removed leaving me dependent on insulin and digestive enzymes.

How ever Kings do not think I am well enough to survive that procedure.

So I'm sorry but I have more things to worry about than that of when a new restaurant will reopen

Chances are I will not be here by the time it does.

I will say no more on the subject. I trust you will give me a break.

I suspect there are a couple of people here that will continue to kick a man when he's down.

    • Hello - sorry to wade into this so late. If anyone is looking to drop off donations to the Community Fridge that runs from Albrighton Community Centre, please feel free to do so any day (seven days a week).  The centre open at 9.00am each day and reception is open until at least 5.30 each day.  We are very grateful for any donations between these times.  As I'm sure everyone can appreciate with food, energy, accommodation, and pretty much everything else costing more and more, the numbers of people that are struggling to support themselves is growing all the time, so we are grateful from whatever people are able to donate. As has been discussed in this thread, we do receive donations from Sainsburys and Marks & Spencer who donate unused food they have left over at the end of each day, and they also have customer donation boxes to allow customers to drop of extra items for us.  Locally Co-op, Lidl and Getir also support us, and slightly further afield, Brindisa, and Harrods also provide us with their unsold food. As some of you may be aware, unlike most food banks,  Community Fridges provide a lot of short life food.  Bread and cakes, as has been spoken about, but also dairy, meat, poultry and fish, as well as fresh fruit and vegetables.  We can accept donations of all these foods, on condition that they are within their 'sell by' date, where applicable.  Food with an expired 'sell by' date cannot legally be sold, or in our case, given away, because potentially it could be harmful.  Best before dates are purely advisory however, so very often food past its best before date is perfectly edible and therefore assuming the food is in reasonable condition can be eaten safely. We are also adding a new string to our bow in the coming week. From 30th April, we will also be rehoming unwanted small electrical goods.  They must be clean and in working condition.  We will check them over and PAT test them, before rehoming them with people using the Community Fridge, so please dig through your cupboards and have a look what you can find. One final note, we are desperately short of volunteers at the Community Fridge, so please get in touch if you maybe have a little time to help out. Thank you Steve [email protected] w: albrightoncommunityfridge.org i: albrighton_community_fridge_ t: albrightonse22
    • There is one listed on Freecycle Dulwich village Pickwick road I can’t seem to copy a link
    • I don't think this picture shows fly-tipping as such, but more the result of over-flowing and unemptied bins. Still very nasty for children (anyone) to have to negotiate, but we're not talking mattresses or tyres or building waste here, I'd think. Which we have had locally at times.
