Spare a thought today

Then spare a thought for those pupils who've just been told they won't take their GCSEs or A'levels now.

They don't know when they WILL take them.

They don't know IF they will take them.

If they are intending to move up to 6th form or FE college they don't know how they will be enrolled with no exam results, nor whether they can even move up any more.

I guess the teachers will provide grades ? Seems they will get grades.

"He also said more details would be given on Friday on how pupils would be awarded grades in the absence of exams."

(should ask my sister but I know she'll be very stressed right now)

The students (and teachers!) all deserve be given more certainty that this.

Of course, they all like the idea of not having to do the exams, but that is superficial. They need to know how they are doing and to have certainty over their college / Uni applications / other plans.

It has to be objective grading but my daughter was in hospital when the last exams were done so would get a low grade if they used the last results, but has been doing much better since - so is expected to get higher grade in the summer

I feel for the schools and teachers, whc have to be fair as futures and choices are at stake.

Well that was my spare thought. I didn't realise it had to be helpful.

It would be expected grade not last exam I'd think.

Spare a thought for all those in in the retail and hospitality sector-not the highest paid jobs on the market many of the staff relying on tips or commission to boost their income.

Suddenly they find themselves in an uncertain position as to when they will be able to return to work or indeed if they'll have jobs to return to.

People in these industries are the least likely to have a savings safety net often living from one wage packet to the next.

They will be terrified.

kids will get their qualifications they live at home and needn't worry about paying rent and putting food in their mouths-Please spare a thought for the bar tender, shop assistant, waiting staff, what about them???
