messageResponse from Helen Hayes MP regarding Local & Corner Shops staying open
Posted by Joem8 March 25, 04:11PM

Hi everyone,

I sent an email and called Helen Hayes MP as there were rumours that one of the fantastic local shops (Dixit Food & Wine on Rosendale Rd) might be closed down next week. The shop, like many other small corner shops are vital to local residents, even without the virus going round.

I received the following rather positive email from Helen Hayes MP that I wanted to share with you, to hopefully help alliviate some stress:

Dear Joe,

Thank you for your email and your phone call.

I share your view about the importance to local communities of small food shops. They play a very important role in ensuring that many residents have access to food supplies.

The Government policy is that shops of this nature should stay open. You can find out more about this policy on the government website, [www.gov.uk].

This specifies food shops and also corner shops and newsagents as being allowed to remain open.

Thank you for raising this issue with me and I hope that this is helpful.

With best wishes,

Yours sincerely,

Sent on behalf of Helen Hayes MP
Member of Parliament for Dulwich and West Norwood
