Countries tend to be following each other in these schemses so I wouldn't be surprised if the UK follows suite at some stage.

And how much will that cost their economy ?

I dread to think how much financially the eurozone / Germans will be expected to fund it after.

My work team is half German, half UK so it effects our rotas. Must be other international companies in the same boat.

Companies will keep staff who can be effectively 4 days a week against those on 5 day weeks (that's how the German system has worked all along - not on furlough 100% of the time). Alternative is offer 4/5ths of pay for 2 years - no government contribution.
