Huguebumba Wedding

Hi, many thanks all who tendered their bestest wishes, we had a brilliant weekend!

Caught this candid snap of mockers dreaming of big things to come....

It poured down from Wednesday to Friday, so we were both resigned to the whole day being a bit of a washout, but Saturday dawned with glorious sunshine which stayed with us all weekend. Hurrah!

It was not without event, the breakdown of electricity and water provision at the critical time of 12pm resulted in Bumbalina and mockney's other half breaking into a hotel down the road and taking baths, before tidying up and fleeing away into the afternoon. The rest of us resorted to the swimming pool.

Order was fortunately restored at 2.30pm, giving the chancer boys an opportunity to clean themselves up (by which time a few proseccos had been shared to dull the nerves).

Bumbalina crossed the bridge at 4pm, bringing more than the odd tear to my eye, she looked quite honestly like a dream.

The ceremony itself caused much hilarity through the presiding official's inability to pronounce bumba's real name. She will henceforth be known as Roger.

Many speeches and entertainment ensued, and we had a live jazz band to fill the gaps. Food was exquisite, including 25 different antipastos, three courses and dessert. Highlights included scrambled eggs (yes really!) and gnocchi with truffle.

As all weddings should be, the wedding was completed delightfully by a police VAT raid on Monday morning.

Bloody marvellous.

Some candid snaps can be found at this flickr location. We're still waiting for the professional ones, and we'll append as soon as we get them! For some reason I can't sort the photos, so the wedding snaps themselves are on pages 2 & 3. Mockers, please do pool as soon as you get yours online?

Once more many thanks for your best wishes, and I hope you all enjoy the photos!

A top description of events there huguenot. I'll just add that it was all terrific, especially the Italian sash on the civil presario, the scrambled egg, the weather, the setting. Well everything.

By the way that's not a calm dreamy look, that's a rictus grin of terror as I was about to kick off the speeches, but the jazz band decided to milk the ending of the tune for a further 2 minutes and I ended up looking like a spare part/idiot next to them.

I've a couple of snaps of the general environs here but as I'm ploughing through a near half a thousand photos chronologically, the wedding ones will go up tonight and onto the pool.

    • That's a good idea smiley blue , if you or anyone else comes across petitions to end these despicable acts of cruelty to defenceless animals please put on here or start a new thread if you please so we can sign the petition and add our objections to this , I would also like to thank all of you the people for reading these messages and adding your voices to this cruelty,  maybe we can end it
    • Malumbu, by that measure are police efforts to cut down on anti-social driving by issuing tickets and fines a token effort as well? Surely punitive measures for cyclists breaking the rules will encourage them not to break the rules again? A bit like when you got stopped and taken into the cab of an HGV. The police are currently using that tactic to show those who break the rules cycling that it might lead them to being hit by a lorry due to the driver's having limited vision - the cycling equivalent of a speed awareness course for drivers.    When they stopped you was it because you had broken a rule or was it just more of an education programme and they asked you to take a look and did it change your cycling behaviour in any way? As I said previously there are those who break the rules on cycling out of ignorance (and those out of arrogance) and I am sure they are using HGVs to educate those in the ignorance category and then hitting those in the arrogance category with the PCNs.
    • Good that PETA is on it but can we add our voices to the fight against this horrible practice? I’m still shocked! A petition maybe? Happy to raise to the RSPCA but don’t want to duplicate efforts. I’ve signed campaigns from RSPCA before which sends it directly to your councillor
