NOW TAKEN lovely double room in 2-bed flat to rent

My flatmate is moving out and I'm looking for someone else to rent the room.

It's a good-sized double bedroom in a cosy, well-decorated two-bedroom flat, in a 1920s purpose-built block in SE22. There's a great community feel to the place, and the neighbours are friendly and approachable. The flat is fully furnished to a high standard, with Sky TV and Wifi. The kitchen is very well equipped, plus dishwasher and washing machine. The bathroom is a good size with decent shower and lovely bath.

You'd be sharing the flat with me - I'm 46 and I work freelance in publishing. I love cooking and baking, enjoy a glass of wine and going out to pubs, cinema, even the odd club night. I'm friendly and laidback, but I do like a clean and tidy home - this is pretty important to me! When I'm at home, I like to have a quiet time, doing some cooking and watching films.

I'm looking for someone who is similarly laidback, quiet, tidy and considerate of other's privacy. The flat is very much a home for me, rather than a short-term stop-gap and I'd like a flatmate who is looking for the same sort of thing.

The woman who owns the flat is a great landlady. She leaves us to ourselves, but any repairs or concerns we've had have been dealt with swiftly and professionally. She also hasn't put the rent up in the two and a half years I've lived here - a real bonus in this day and age, I think.

The rent is ?550 a month. Bills on top of that come to about ?140 a month per person, and include gas/electricity, water, council tax, Sky and TV licence. The room is available from May 1st, possibly a bit earlier.

    • I noticed this announcement en passant while doing various searches on the libraries website.  When I eventually went back to  make a proper note, I couldn't find it.  Eventually discovered it in the middle of the catalogue basic search page, and thought it well to post it here too. Easter opening hours All libraries will be closed on the following days: Friday 29 March 2024   Sunday 31 March 2024  Monday 1 April 2024
    • I am at The Gardens. I saw GP on a Wednesday and he recommended physio, he checked availability and offered Tessa Jowell Centre for Saturday at 1 pm or Forest Hill Road Practice on a Monday at 11 am. I chose FH- very efficient/ Physio at FH very helpful, sent me some neck exercises and referred me for spinal assessment at Kings.
    • Of course, people's experiences may vary, but I'm afraid I can't recommend the DMC on Crystal Palace Rd.
    • Option 1.  Let them go bust.  Government takes over, until an appropriate solution found.  This happens with failing train operating companies  Option 2.  Anyone who made money on the privatisation, or their immediate descendants, bail them out  Obviously the latter isn't going to happen but makes me feel better/superior. What do you reckon?  Big picture.  Small picture as I posted elsewhere is that they were good when we had a leaking main.  And of course mass redundancies need to be avoided.
