Wanted: some sort of office space for five weeks

This may or may not work in the world of coronavirus, but it's worth an ask.

I'm spending 5 weeks from the week starting 30 March writing a book. I was going to be based in a shared office-club place, but clearly that won't work. Writing from home will be difficult, due to distractions/other people etc.

So I was wondering: does anyone have a room/space/home office/shed/pod/anything of some sort I could rent? It would need to be one I could access in a non-shared way, ie to not have to have daily close contact with others, so it's not any more of a public health risk than working from home. I'd mainly be working fairly standard hours, but I'd need access beyond those, in case the deadline looms. And I'm based in SE5, so it would need to be somewhere I could cycle to fairly quickly.

But beyond that my needs are basic: just power, light, access to a loo and ideally wifi. Even wifi isn't a dealbreaker, as I could use a mifi dongle. A desk and chair would be good, though at a real push I could even bring them along. Price could be negotiable. It can be in a building with others, as long as the space is separate. I'd be quiet, nothing more than tapping laptop keys and the flick of book pages.

Any ideas welcome.

Thanks

    • I think insurance scams do happen but I thought there had been a crackdown on them recently. In the past insurance companies seemed to just pay out and everyone's premium goes up to cover it. My partner was a victim a few years ago, she was parking and touched a bumper of the next car. There was no mark and the other driver just waved my partner away. A month later we received a letter claiming there were four people in the other car and two of them were so badly injured they could not work. Our insurer was a rare one that actually fought the case and pretty much on the steps of the court the scammers "dropped hands" and case was closed. i thought at the time that was a good result but I later saw that my insurer had run up a £2000 legal bill and didn't get to ask for costs as there was no court case – we didn't have to pay it but again, it's this sort of thing that pushes all premiums up. And no action was taken against the other party despite them clearly being scammers who were revealed to have done this before and had effectively admitted their own statements were a pack of lies. Sorry to hijack your thread, just getting this off my chest as your post brought it all flooding back!

Being 2 form entry, It’s one of the smaller schools in the area and it’s also very diverse with an amazing spirit. Brilliant Art and Music departments, staff and a new library.
