Recommended Posts

Dear expectant mothers,

Are you pregnant, expecting you 2nd or 3rd child?

Would you like to brush up your lknowledge about your labour options and coping strategies? Talking about life with a toddler and a baby? Meeting local mums expcting their second (or third) child around same dates as you?

I am a practising midwife and I run group antental classes in East Dulwich, for first time parents as well as second timers.

The next refresher course will run on May over 2 weeks, ideal for those of you due on June/early July 2015:

Dates: Tuesday May 5th and 12th 2015

Time: From 8pm to 10pm (when toddlers are asleep, in theory...)

Content:

1st week: We focus on labour, what to expect second time round, where to give birth, coping strategies and pain relief options, and any other topic you may want to talk about from your previous birth.

2nd week: Recovery, life with a toddler, what to expect and tips to make your recovery and those early weeks to go smooth as a mother of 2.

During the session we organise a couple of days out, and after that, groups take off and keep on meeting on aregular basis.

Cost is 100? both session, per couple. This includes hand outs, unlimeted access to my email/phone for support or furhter information, and lovely snacks.

Just to say that my husband and I took this course with Ariadna last summer before our second daughter was born in October. We found it a useful refresher as well as providing time for us to stop and really think about what we hoped for at the birth, and practical things around the event, and looking at it all from our first child's perspective too. It was easy to be too busy to focus on the second pregnancy but the evenings with Ariadna were a way to slow down and take time to enjoy it (in between puffy ankles, waddling etc). We also met two great couples.

We took this course with ariadna in December having also done her full course with our first baby 2 years earlier.

It was incredibly useful and Ariadna was highly informative, non -judgemental and open minded. It was useful to recap on labour and birth but also think about what happened with our first labour and what could be different second time round.

The discussion about preparing and coping with a toddler and a newborn was totally invaluable. Ariadna helped us to understand the change from a toddlers perspective and gave us lots of invaluable tips for coping with potential behavioural issues.

finally we metthree other lovely couples with children of a similar age who live really close by to us which has been really helpful.

Cannot recommend this course highly enough to anyone local expecting their second or third child and wanting a refresh. I also agree with the previous poster that it was so nice to have an opportunity to make time to think about the new arrival, something that can be more tricky to do whilst looking after a toddler.

    • Another recommendation for Jason Arnold. He took great care and did an excellent job repairing a kitchen wall and plastering. Very personable and friendly and left the place clean and tidy. Communication with him was speedy and straightforward. Highly recommend.
    • If memory serves, there was rather more to things than that. Young people were being coerced in some way to sell these things by the people running the scam. I am guessing the relevant forum threads no longer exist, as this has been going on for decades round here, and I imagine in other places as well.
    • I wanted to provide a strong recommendation for Nick Minnes and his team. I came across Nick when someone on our street was moving out shortly after we moved in and posted on our street whatsapp group with their top ten best trades people in which Nick was listed as a handyman+. We had just moved into a house that had been lived in for 40 years by a couple in their late 80s so there was a lot of work to do! Over the last 5 years, we have used Nick on multiple occasions. The definition of handymen+ does not do Nick and his team justice as they do so much more than this. The work they have done includes: A complete new bathroom refurbishment (including re-building a new wall) Completely refurbishing a sitting room (including inserting sound insultation and bespoke cabinetary) Bespoke under stairs storage (after a number of other trades people said it was too difficult) Preparing the house for plastering (removing old wallpaper, filling in cracks) Outside restoration of bricks and cornice Fixing floorboards down Nick is not your normal handymen. He is extremely creative and also great with thinking through colour schemes. I wouldn't hesitate to use Nick and his team again. Everything that they have done for me has been of the highest quality. They are trustworthy, tidy, reliable and honest. I already have a list of other jobs to get them back in for. I would very happily provide a reference for Nick - just like the people did who were leaving our road.  Nick can be contacted on: 07866 267 581. Thanks, Andy
    • Would be very interested to buy a 10-12’ trampoline with net in case anyone is having a pre-summer clear out.    Dan
