Hi bit of a weird one which is why I?ve put it here rather than in residential as it?s not a straight forward arrangement that we are looking for.

We were residents in Dulwich(Overhill road)for 17years but recently moved away from London.

My husband still works in London and commutes home but he works In theatre so dosent finish work until 10.30pm. Every night he gets home no problem at all except for a Saturday night where the last train is 9.45 at the moment!

They are doing works on the line overnight on a Saturday so the last train is over 2 hours earlier than every other night of the week.

So far since moving he has stayed at our old neighbours House which had been brilliant but she is expecting her first baby soon so the spare room will be needed for the baby. So this arrangement has to come to an end.

Does anyone have a spare room that they would be interested in renting out for 1 night a week on an ad hoc basis.

He usually arrives around midnight and is gone by 9.30am on the Sunday morning. This is why other soloutions don?t really work for him hotels in London are too expensive to do that often, air bnb usually requires a 2 night minimum

Stay and the same with theatre digs houses. Also another problem is he dosent get back till so late which is why the neighbours house was ideal as he had a spare key to let himself in and out so they didn?t have to wait up for him to arrive and he would feed the cat if he was staying while they were away etc.

He usually knows a week or 2 in advance if he needs to stay in London and it roughly works out at about twice a month. If anyone has a room and would like to talk more about this then please send me a private message. obviously if you have fiends or family staying and the room isn?t available for a weekend that he needs to stay in London then we can sort something else for those weekends but would be good to have an arrangement in place for most of the time. He can bring his own sleeping ba/pillowcase and towel or can even shower once he gets to work if need be. If anyone has a room that is lying empty and thinks this would be a good way for a little bit of extra cash please send me a private message.

    • I found this post after we just had to throw away £14 of chicken thighs from Dugard in HH, and probably for the 3rd time. They were roasted thoroughly within an hour of purchase. But they came out of the oven smelling very woofy.  We couldn't take a single bite, they were clearly off. Pizza for dinner it is then. Very disappointing.
    • interesting read.  We're thinking about the same things for our kids in primary school as well. One thing I don't understand about Charter ED is whether they stream / set kids based on ability.  I got the impression from an open evening that it is done a little as possible. All i could find on-line was this undated letter - https://www.chartereastdulwich.org.uk/_site/data/files/users/18/documents/9473A8A3547CCCD39DBC4A55CA1678DC.pdf?pid=167 For the most part, we believe in mixed ability teaching and do not stream in Year 7 or Year 8. The only exceptions to this are that we have a small nurture class for Maths. This is a provision for students who scored lower than 85 in their SATS exams and is designed to support them to acquire the skills to access the learning in mainstream class. We do not have nurture classes for any other subjects. We take a more streamed - though not a setted - approach in Maths and Science from Year 9 onwards. though unsure if this is still accurate reflection of policy, and unsure of difference between streaming and setting.
    • Hello, I'm looking for an entertainer for my 9 year old son's birthday party. Looking for someone who can organise some games for the kids as my son and his friends are quite active. Regards, Sue
    • My son’s primary school hatched duck eggs, probably under this scheme around 12 years ago.  We were all very upset to hear that 2 of the (5 year old) boys had knocked the incubator over & all eggs smashed.   feeling a lot less sad about that now!
