Newly arrived Au pairs

Hi,

We have just had a lovely 20 year old girl from Germany arrive to look after our children as their au pair. She is keen to meet other au pairs new to this area.

Please PM me if you have a new au pair who might like to meet up with her and we can exchange contact details.

Also, can anyone recommend local English classes? Our previous au pairs went to South Thames College in Wandsworth but we wondered if Lambeth College or Southwark College might offer ESOL classes at the right level?

Thanks.

Hello, our au pair, 19 from Sweden just arrived last week and is keen to meet other au pairs in the area. Please get in touch!

(goocha and birnehelene - I have sent you PM).

in terms of language classes, we have had au pairs attending classes at Brockley Rise (near Hornor Oak Park and Forest Hill Station):

You can also find ESOL at Morley College https://www.morleycollege.ac.uk/courses?utf8=%E2%9C%93&course_filter%5Bactive_tab%5D=keyword&course_filter%5Bkeyword%5D=ESOL#course_listing , and I think you have some on offer in Penge: https://baec.ac.uk/?page_id=3133

Very belated reply to this thread, but we also have an au pair from Germany living with us, in Telegraph Hill (SE14), looking after our two children. She's 19 and very nice. (She's been here since early September: I'm not a regular user of this forum, so it didn't occur to me to look here or suggest to her to look when she arrived...)

If you would like to put her in touch with your au pair, please let me know by private message! (PS I think she already knows Kira in Forest Hill and they are actually meeting today, by crazy coincidence.)

Thanks

Ingrid

    • Hi, I have a few filled and empty sharps bins to dispose of. My GP has filled out a form for the council and they've come to us while we were away, left two large sharps bins and no instructions. Would any of you know what to do? In the meantime I've gained another two empty sharps bins to add to my collection... Many thanks
    • I asked the same question in this forum a few months ago, as my wife wanted to learn to drive but was quite nervous after having had sessions with someone very stressful.  The recommendation we saw most often was Silvano, which she's been very happy with and who has helped her build her confidence. You can read more recommendations for him here
    • door to door selling has been around for years. It is not illegal.
    • They are not from 'rehabilitation schemes'. There are no such schemes that sell door-to-door. I have checked this myself with the probation services and been told by them that it's a scam. Trading Standards say: “Don’t deal with cold callers. Full stop. At the most innocent, they’re selling overpriced goods. At the more sinister end, they're assessing the potential for more serious crimes". It wouldn't hurt to report to the non-emergency number, 101. As Sandyman says, the police may use the information to direct future resources.
