I used wet wipes for about 6 years before realising that most were made out of plastic (i.e. polyester!) and will take 200 years to biodegrade. Most end up in Londonís landfills (which will be full by 2026) and 1 in 3 gets flushed down the toilet ending up in our rivers and beachesÖ or forming 93% of Londonís fatbergs.
Please join us in stitching messages into baby-wipes and sending them to our MPís and supermarkets asking for action on plastic wipes.
All resources and toys for any children (but just be aware there will be needles and scissors around!) will be provided. All welcome! You donít need to know how to stitch, and the more hand-made the message the better! I can teach you some stitches and itís really easy. All you need is a willingness to stitch messages for the environment.
Please join us!

*We're using pre-consumer waste wipes, off cuts from a wipes factory which were going to be thrown away. Plus they didn't have any moisture on them, so it's a firmer surface. No actual wipes were purchased in this project!
