What is the number of gcse subjects charter lets each student choose? According to the website they timetable for 8 (but one is PE?)

PE I think they do anyway, but can be taken as a GCSE option.

Assume you've looked at the GCSE guide from their website:

English is 2 GCSEs plus Maths plus Science is 2 or 3 GCSEs plus 4 choices

So thatís 9 or 10

Why would you want to do more? Another school forced my eldest into taking 14 for no reason that benefitted him that I could see.

GCSEs are increasing in difficulty since they all became linear

When I was at school, in the dark ages, we used to take 6 or 8

Yes, dark ages me too which is why I'm asking as I know things have moved on. 14 sounds ridiculous, I think 9 is the norm. From the website it looked as only 7 so that's why I asked - I didn't know science counted as two etc.

There is potential to do 3 GCSEs in Science and 3 in Maths (Maths, Stats and Additional maths) so that's 6 for a start (I do not know about the Charter school though)...some are done in year 10. BUT to get a decent A level A/A* grades are needed in the GCSE....some schools are happy for the student to get a C grade....and will enter them early...does not do the future of the student any good especially since Universities will look at GCSE attainments...

I suspect 7 means, English/Maths/Science, plus 4 other subject choices.
As others have pointed out, the core subjects will be sub divided, so students often end up
with at least 9 GCSEs.

And English is 2-Literature and Language.

No longer true Iím afraid, grades are 0-9 and they are all linear so I donít believe you can take any early. All have to be at end of 2 Year course so unless they start some in year 9 this wonít happen. Iím not sure if taken early they get included in national tables

That are certainly harder
