Anyone recommend a good photographer for baby/family portraits?

Recommended Posts

Would love to get some -as-natural-as-possible with an unpredictable 11month old - photos of our bubba and possibly a family shot or two but would ideally like to have somebody that people can rate, had good experience with, someone who was relaxed and good with baby etc

Can anyone recommend any good photographers in the area?

Cheers x

I'd like to recommend Peter Northall who is also a local photographer A news photojournalist of enormous experience, Peter combines candid photography with an amazing eye for detail. His photojournalism approach to photography enables him to tell your story perfectly. Peter specialises in 'environmental portraiture'; photography which takes place in the client's home, usual or favourite surroundings. He also has a 5 month old baby son and daughter in primary school so is very experienced in being around children, and is great with them! I would recommend Lol Johnson. She's a local mum of two and also a great photographer. We were lucky enough to get a slot on one of her free shoot days. There's no obligation to buy anything (but of course we did, the photos were great!)

She's just announced another free shoot day on 3rd of June. If you're quick you might get a slot. Details are on her facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/loljohnsonphotography.

If you do decide to book a slot with her, PM me and I'll give you my details (so I might get another print from my shoot from recommending you - yay!)

Just wanted to add that the best thing about Lorenzo is that you get a disc containing all of your photos - so none of the usual expense of having to order prints through the photographer which I think is a real bonus.

My wife has just alerted me to this thread and I must say I'm really touched by some of the comments here. Thank you so much. I'm really grateful and I think I can work out who some of you are!

I have three sons of my own so I've learnt the art of patience with kids although they'll always surprise you! I care very much about my work and nothing gives me more pleasure than seeing the look on parents faces when they see the results of my efforts.

My Family Portrait Packages are straight forward (High res CD, Prints, Private Web Gallery) and competitively priced. If anyone would like to know more please contact me via my website Lorenzo Photography and if you fancy it 'Like' my Facebook page or visit my Blog so you can keep in touch and see my latest work.

Thank you all again.

Another vote for Lorenzo - as Pickle mentioned, he is one of the few photographers to give you a CD of hi-res images at no extra expense. This usually costs a FORTUNE from other local photographers that I have contacted! We loved the first photos so much that he now photographs our family yearly which is a lovely memento.

I would highly recommend Phil Ripley at www.ripleyphotography.co.uk (020 8355 3053). Phil came to our house and took some beautiful shots of our 6 month old girl. He was extremely patient and flexible and keen to work with exactly what we wanted. He came up with a fab range of shots for us to choose from in colour and black & white.

Dan Luker (the cheery bearded chap with the glasses behind the bar at the EDT) is a wonderful portrait photographer - some of you may have seen his work displayed at the EDT kids' club Babble & Squeek on a Friday morning. He gets amazing, natural, personalised shots and is so unbelievably good with children - he takes time to play with them and gain their trust before he starts shooting and it really shows - take a look here: http://danlukerphoto.wordpress.com and also here at his FB page: http://en-gb.facebook.com/pages/Dan-Luker-Photography/175513499163628?sk=photos#!/pages/Dan-Luker-Photography/175513499163628?sk=photos. I've also PM'd this over to you.

I'd like to say a huge thank you to all the families I've met and photographed with babies, toddlers and children this year. It's been lovely to meet and work with you all and I hope you've found the sessions as much fun as I have :)

My apologies to those that have been in touch recently only to discover that I'm fully booked until the end of January 2015. I do try to fit in as many families as possible but demand has been extremely high this year.

However, it's not too late if you'd like to buy your loved ones a Gift Voucher for Christmas http://www.lorenzophotography.co.uk/gift-voucher/

Thank you again and wishing you all a fab Christmas and New Year!

Thank you all again for your wonderful support this year. Great to meet so many of you for the first time and some for the second and third time as your families grow!

Sadly I'm now fully booked until next year but it's not too late if you're thinking of sending someone you love a Gift Voucher for a Family Photo Session.

Details here http://www.lorenzophotography.co.uk/gift-voucher/

Wish you all an amazing Christmas and New Year.

    • Hmmm, millions of animals are killed each year to eat in this country.  10,000 animals (maybe many more) reared to be eaten by exotic pets, dissected by students, experimented on by cosmetic and medical companies.  Why is this any different? Unless you have a vegan lifestyle most of us aren't in a position to judge.  I've not eaten meat for years, try not to buy leather and other animal products as much as possible but don't read every label, and have to live with the fact that for every female chick bred to (unaturally) lay eggs for me to eat, there will be male that is likely top be slaughtered, ditto for the cow/milk machines - again unnatural. I wasn't aware that there was this sort of market, but there must be a demand for it and doubt if it is breaking any sort of law. Happy to be proved wrong on anything and everything.
    • I don't know how spoillable food can be used as evidence in whatever imaginary CSI scenario you are imagining.  And yes, three times. One purchase was me, others were my partner. We don't check in with each other before buying meat. Twice we wrote it off as incidental. But now at three times it seems like a trend.   So the shop will be hearing from me. Though they won't ever see me again that's for sure.  I'd be happy to field any other questions you may have Sue. Your opinion really matters to me.
    • If you thought they were off, would it not have been a good idea to have kept them rather than throwing them away, as evidence for Environmental Health or whoever? Or indeed the shop? And do you mean this is the third time you have bought chicken from the same shop which has been off? Have you told the shop? Why did you buy it again if you have twice previously had chicken from there which was off? Have I misunderstood?
    • I found this post after we just had to throw away £14 of chicken thighs from Dugard in HH, and probably for the 3rd time. They were roasted thoroughly within an hour of purchase. But they came out of the oven smelling very woofy.  We couldn't take a single bite, they were clearly off. Pizza for dinner it is then. Very disappointing.
