Shop for rent in Peckham Rye

Got a shop coming up for rent. Just taking enquiries at the moment. 600sqft close to Foxtons on Rye Lane - the south end. Will have a loo, high ceilings, big open glass front and a great location. A1 A2 use and approx ?1900 a month.

If anybody is thinking about starting a little local business I'm all ears.

Great location but for that rent it would be very hard for a small local business to make a go of it.

they'd need to take at least ?800 a week to be able to pay a staff member and cover any other costs (lighting, etc etc)

not to mention the cost of stock.

Perhaps it may work for a collective of designer/makers who could all split the rental between them and take turns to staff the shop?

Just a suggestion

Sure thanks for your input - very valuable thinking and I will take your excellent suggestions on board. I've probably been missing a trick trying to rent to successful businesses and entrepreneurs and should focus on collectives of craftspeople as my target market.

Cheers,

Charlie

Agreed-especially due to the vibe of the area and it being seen as a hotspot for makers/designers/artists

I think following that route it will make your shop more of a 'destination' especially with a good instagram feed and leafleting local cafes, Goldsmiths etc.

good luck!

I'd shop there!

    • Hello all, Please excuse me/feel free to remove the comment if this isn’t the appropriate place for it. I am an East Dulwich resident writing a story for the South East Londoner (https://www.selondoner.co.uk) about the problems patients are facing with the service at Tessa Jowell GP Surgery and the Health Centre. I would like to speak with people currently or formerly registered with the practice to learn more about their experiences. This story won’t seek to single out or ‘have a go’ at individuals – by most accounts the quality of care for those who do get an appointment is good – but will look at the quality of service and why it seems to be worsening.  If you would like to speak to me, you can email [email protected] and we can arrange an interview. If you’d like to check who I am first, my editor Tom Holmes can be reached at [email protected] I will also post this on the East Dulwich Forum Facebook group. Thank you, Harry Hetherington
    • Whoever owns it obviously doesn't need the rent.

    • I agree with Head Nun. My experience is very similar and has been so for the 25 years I've lived in London. They got a lot worse after the Tour de France came here though. And then the Olympics.
