Also, Toasted is going to be closing on Sunday for a refurb same people, but will reopen as Terroirs (the other branch is just off the Strand). The big wine tanks are going, but they'll still be doing bottle refills from the 10 odd wine taps they'll have at the bar.

EDPH has put up branding in the front windows and door of the old Irish shop. Will it be a proper extension or a separate shop? I am assuming the former.

Toast has only just reopened after its last refurb!

New cocktail bar just opened in premise where Lerryns was on Rye Lane. Called two hundred I think.

Apologies if this has been covered already/elsewhere, but the developer of the new build next to the station is now explicit that M & S are taking the retail unit:

Obviously Waitrose would have been preferable but, if confirmed, this would be something of a step up on the original Morrison's proposal.

Funniest thing I've read today.

Thanks.

Why do M&S need another shop so close to the existing one??

EDPH? Picture House?

Unclear. But I guess it suggests the current food hall has exceeded expectations in terms of anticipated sales.

Perhaps Waitrose can take the Grove Vale library site when they move into the new unit.

I declared this months ago ..from the horses mouth (M&S employee in LL
branch)
seemed inevitable

Whilst these posts seem to be wetting themselves about a new grocery store, what happens to the tyre shop?

A real community asset.

Need it be affected? Other side of the road...perfect for anyone needing to pick up prosecco, prawn vol-au-vents and Pirellis in the one trip!

Double yellow lines as far as I can recall.

Why would Waitrose be preferable?
And does East Dulwich really need another M&S that will be similar in size to the current store, unless they're planning on catching more of the business from being next to the station?

Went tonight - it is called '200 Rye Lane' and for those of you less au fait with Peckham's history (myself included)its just up from Peddler and Pizza pickup, and pretty much opposite the Nag's head.

The guy said they were having a 'soft launch' and adding an extra day each week, today was their first Sunday. The cocktails were lovely, the bar staff really nice. Didn't eat but the bar snack descriptions sounded good. Its definitely light snacks with your cocktails rather than somewhere for a full on dinner at the moment, though they are apparently doing some work to expand the kitchen.

Would definitely go back - hopefully when more people have discovered it, it will be a bit warmer, as was a bit chilly, but that was my only criticism.

There is also a fair size M&S food in Kings- how many do we need?

The old Audi garage in Dulwich surely must be being primed for Waitrose?
Wouldn't it be funny if Lidl went for it....

I heard its changing from Audi to Aldi, so they can save money on minimal signage changes.

Well, for the supermarket operators there's an element of keeping the opposition out. That's why there are so many supermarkets of the same brand within such close proximity of each other.

I'm fairly sure that the station M&S will be a Simply Food rather than a Food Hall so sandwiches, snacks and drinks, rather than the larger range. I predict it will be hugely popular but won't take much business away from the Lordship Lane shop.

Any ideas what's happening with Question air? Has it closed or is it a refurb?

Agree!
BTW Questionair has closed and will become a shop called Iris-they have for a long time had a branch in Queens Park where I used to live.
Much better selection than Questionair which seemed to stock just jeans and very average clothing and just never inspired me to make a purchase.
Iris is WAY better!

But QuestionAir had a notice on it saying it was being refurbished?

The painted sign above the door says Iris

messageRe: New Shops in Dulwich / Peckham

Iris is a chain moving in from SW and NW London.

They have a range called Little Iris - in direct competition with Jo Jo Mamam Bebe.

Guerilla marketing tactics opposite JoJo's - ouch

It'll be like when the 99p shop opened next to Poundland.

Maybe Iris and Question Air are owned by the same people?

Yes you're right, it does now.

Bathstore moves on, Tile Giant moves in from next door, Tool Station comes in after Tile Giant.

That's more interesting than Simply Food or Waitrose
