Apologies didn't know Wilson's is a school in Camberwell - in my haste mistook it for Wilson's the bike shop in Peckham !

Sorry bsand,

this still has no reference to the band Shadowfax.

the band also had nothing to do with Wilson's school, or the bike shop in Peckham.

Previous comments have referred to it.

"I was at Wilsons in Camberwell with Nigel Hine, sad to hear he committed suicide. I used to go to the Uplands and Palmerston (and also previoius to that the Magdela) and recall Shadowfax but cant remember seeing them play. I have seen Nigel play, was he in another local group called Tennis Shoes? Also does anyone know the surname of Darryl who also went to Wilsons?"

No worries we should all read threads more carefully !!!

If anyone is still interested or has any more to add to this thread

Keith Arnold can also be found on Facebook, and from what I can make out would still be interested in any information.

If anyone has any old tapes they recorded of the band I would like to hear about them or indeed get copies, so that I can covert them to upload to Youtube and even Facebook..

I'm sure that Keith Arnold would also be interested.

Thanks in advance.

Steve.

Tony Church was punched in the face and knocked down backwards.
His head hit the pavement and that resulted in serious brain injury.

Thats how I heard it.

On a slightly more positive note, I'm glad to see MacRoban's name on the first page. She question mark was a genuinely thoughtful and enlightening correspondent.

Mel was not in Shadowfax,although they have all hung out together. He was in a band with tony and Nigel who sadly have both also passed.

Yes I was pretty sure about Mel ,but I only got involved with shadowfax about 80/81 ,i knew about Nigel ,and was shocked when I heard about Redman ,the amount of talent from those times that are no longer here is just incredible ,all so sad .

I think I was still around the uplands at that time, I went out with tony for a few years and knew the boys well, yes very sad that so many have now passed. do you remember Chris Heggarty? he also no longer with us. Such a lot of musical talent gone.

I first went in the uplands 1976,chris was one of my best mates ,i wouldn't have started singing in bands if he hadn't pushed me ,tony was the guest of the Germans for being naughty and can't remember who else ,but there was a gig at the walmer castle and got volunteered by Chris to help out with the singing

I believe you will find that Mel did sing for Shadowfax, but it was only a one off, which I believe was one night at the Newlands Tavern.

After that they has a Welsh guy called Brian that sang for them.

He also got them a gig in Wales, which was at Barry Island, I can't remember the name of the pub, but I know it did happen as I drove them there in a van, and we stayed at one of their houses that night.

How we got there in one piece after the gig I will never know we were all totally smashed that night!

Tony (Churchy) Church is alive and well and lives in Downham.

I just found an old Shads cassette and transferred it to mp3. The track is called Skewiff and it's a decent bit of early 80s power pop/rock.

I can't be bothered to put it on YouTube but if someone else wants to feel free. PM me and I'll send it over

Captain Marvel sent this track to me and I converted it (twice) to upload to Youtube.

[youtu.be] = version 1

[youtu.be] = version 2

Both the same, but version 2 shows logo/badge for the band.
