Totally agree with this.

But I suspect that we don't have the necessary transport infrastructure anyway. And others have raised doubts as to whether the space is actually big enough (the actual open space - "the common" - is far smaller than Victoria Park or Clapham Common).

Yep, agree with that.

Ah bring it on ! A big bumper weekend on the Rye full of great bands would be brilliant . Great stuff

Hamstead Heath, Blackheath, Clapham Common, Wandsworth Common. All large areas of land where big festival type affairs would work. Peckham Rye is a patch of grass in comparison.

Dear Councillors.

As Peckham Rye Councillors, who's wards cover the common and park, I would be glad of your responses to my request.

Thank you

transport links aren't regular enough for a huge event I wouldn't have thought?

Assuming that's somebody's home address, should that really be posted on the forum?

Appreciate that anyone could seek it out, but still!

Maybe it will end up being something like this? [www.ip-art.com]

That's from my home town - we always enjoyed it, free to get into, local bands in a park about the same size!

messageRe: Concert/Festival on Peckham Rye

Sounds good... local artists and underground music. Certainly nothing like a Clapham Common "calling" type festival. (Suspect much of the music will not be to my taste, but that's irrelevant I suppose).

Picking on the address of the domain name registration... this is just petty nit-picking. There could be any number of valid reasons - maybe a friend helping out with the website, or someone's parents address, etc. If you are so concerned, mail them and ask about it. Rather than being so bloody negative.

I also think it sounds promising. Wondering how the mighty Zonderlings get in the line up.

Lineup announced.

Never heard of any of them, but then I'm probably not the target demographic.

I can't find the events license at www.southwark.gov.uk.

Can anyone find it?

I'd like to know the music curfew time.

It not on the Rye I think it's named after the train station. Seems to be multi venue Bussey building etc

Thanks for the clarification.

I found Frank's: [moderngov.southwark.gov.uk]

I can't find the Bussey Building.

Can anyone help?

The Bussey is on the other side of Rye Lane from PR Station to the right of the railway bridge - you go through a little alley to get to it.

It seems like they have a range of venues participating - none of them are on Peckham Rye Common or Park.

Seems to be all electronic music and DJs. Good luck to them, but not my cuppa.

Hmmm, no surprise that Zonderlings never heard back then!

I don't like this

"Now run by the same team behind The Montpelier, The White Horse has made a speedy transition from overlooked local into the neighbourhood’s newest favourite boozer. Sticking to a strict 100% vinyl only policy with resident selectors spinning Soul & Funk every Friday and boasting its own in-house band, The White Horse still packs plenty of old school charm despite its welcome change in direction."

The White Horse did a good trade before it changed hands thank you very much.

Ah, they're just trying to make it sound trendy (and it isn't)

I remember back in '89 when things were simpler and the police a bit naiver, a sound system came straight from a rave on a Sunday and just set up on Clapham Common at 11am followed by car loads of Acieeed kids, and the party carried on all day. The Next week the police were there in force but was a fab one off smiling smiley smiling smiley smiling smiley

The trendiness of Soul & Funk nowadays has me laughing away as in the late 70s it was so looked down on by the 'trendies'

Local ward councillors do get periodic lists of planned events. I have currently got a list until Autumn 2016. We get consulted too. I've not heard anything about this proposed Music Festival. I'm wondering if any application has been submitted to the Council yet. There is currently nothing on the events list for 14th May 2016 in Peckham Rye Park. On that date there is a Fun Run in Southwark Park. I would be surprised in an event of such magnitude (compared to other events on Peckham Rye Park) would be happening without consultation having been initiated and it having at least enquiry status on the Council calendar.

Renata - look a bit closer! It's not in the park/common, it's happening in various bars around the area...

OK, I've found it:

So it's actually in venues in or close to Rye Lane. My Colleagues from the Lane ward may know more about this, none of the venues are in Peckham Rye Ward.
