Great no-packaging place in Nunhead which does olive oil and detergent (and lots of other things). It's next door to Goodcup, picture, description and review here [gozerolondon.com]

It's very good

Just heard that one will be opening on Bellenden Road too next month. I think it's going to be called Gather and will be in the old Paul's cycle shop.

mancity68, thanks very much for the shout-out.

A friend and I are setting up Gather, and yes, we hope to open next month. Our website (www.wearegather.uk) has more info about what we'll be doing, and we're on Insta/Twitter (@wearegather_uk) and Facebook (facebook.com/wearegather.uk). We hope to see some of you when we've opened!

Yes this is a great service. You can also take along a measuring jug to fill up bottles. Also has anyone used Naked Larder in Herne Hill. Great way to buy dry stuff without packaging.

Many years ago in Blenheim Grove Peckham, there was a sop where you could purchase things like cereals, dried fruit etc using your own containers. It was part of a larger organisation London wide. Cannot remember the name but was always very busy. Worked out cheaper as well and you could buy as little or as much as you wish.

Yep Pugwash I mentioned that. It was a darn site cheaper than the one in Nunhead too working out cheaper than buying a new box of bran flakes or whatever. Sadly I can not afford to get my shopping at this shop.

The Zero Waste store “Beetroot and Beans” (Dartmouth Road) has been open for a month now and seems popular:

While I would welcome more, there is a zero waste shop in Nunhead called BYO. It's great, well stocked, but only open Wednesday to Saturday (I think).

BYO is now open Tuesday-Sunday. It’s where we currently shop, and I agree, it’s really good. Laura (the owner) is lovely, too.

What I'm looking for, but then I'm a bit chubby, is a zero waist shop!

Open Tuesdays as well now

I second BYO in Nunhead too. I get a lot of stuff there. In fact, I think Nunhead is a great place to do lots of shopping. There is a good butcher, a good greengrocer and a good fishmonger. We've cut down our plastic use considerably by shopping in Nunhead rather than Sainsburys.

Hi sally buying - thanks for taking the time to flag this, it's kind of you. It happened on Saturday, and the pane is being replaced this week.

I'd be hugely interested in this! The one on Nunhead Lane seems to be doing very well! Having one close by would be really convenient and I'd definitely go! So fed up of plastic waste. I'd love it if I could buy all of what you mentioned but also toiletries such as shower gel and shampoo would be amazing!

There is a popular Zero waste shop in Nunhead:

opened about a year ago, sells lots of grains, pulses, household goods. They also have a peanut butter machine

Hi,

We (Gather, 121 Bellenden Road) just wanted to update in case anyone is wondering whether we have opened yet and if not why not.. Unfortunately, we didn't manage to open in May. We’ve been working almost every hour of every day to get things ready, but have had a series of setbacks that have pushed us towards the end of June (fingers crossed).

As those of you who have followed this and other threads will know, we've been planning this for a very long time indeed, but we are nearly there! Gather is just the two of us (with some help from some amazing friends and family). We’re not a big corporation, and we don’t have buckets of money. We’re just two normal (and local) people who are giving everything we have to make a difference, and we’ll keep working every day, smiling through the sweat and tears (and so much sawdust!).

As we say, we’re aiming for a launch at the end of this month. So please keep all your fingers and toes crossed for us! And if you see us DIYing away, give us a wave, a smile or a nod. It really does make our day.

It's time we set up a separate Forum account, so we've now done that (this is our first message as Gather but obviously we've posted above in our pre-shop guise), and we will introduce ourselves over on the ED Businesses etc thread in a moment too.

Thanks so much for all your support to date, including those who filled in our survey many moons ago - it, and the conversations on here, have genuinely helped shape what Gather is and will be. Thank you.

Tash and Laura, Gather, 121 Bellenden Road
