What an upsetting thing to witness ,horrible for you .

I hope none of the shot hit the fox . I don't know what to suggest - maybe the non urgent police line 101 . Obviously they can't do anything now but I imagine they would want to log details of someone taking pot shots from a car .

Hope you can get some sleep after this .

Also, I would report to the RSPCA. Again, they will add to their logs and maybe will link it to any injured foxes brought on from this area.

anybody using an air rifle in the street or any public place should be reported to the police immediately it is witnessed. this is not only an animal welfare issue, just as using a shotgun on a fox in the street would not be.

Yes I reported it to police online I will now do RSPCA
Do not think the fox got hit as did not hear it cry but there were many shots fired pinging on lamp posts and railing
Thanks everyone

Did you get the reg plate? It could the Croydon 'cat killer'(also targets other animals, including foxes)

If you got the plate definitely report to the police. Horrible.

let not conflate this cat killer issue with every incident in the SE - anyone shooting or displaying a gun in public should really be reported to the cops on 999 immediately - its not really an issue for judgement - its a gun in public

Did not get reg once I saw what was happening just ducked behind balcony did not want them to see me
Police are coming to see me as they said it's serious someone going around shooting from a car
Thanks all

There are some Very 'Sick' people out there..

You cannot fire an Air-gun / Rifle in any public place. *

**it is illegal to have an airgun, loaded or not, and whether in a secure case or not, in any public place without lawful authority to do so, or reasonable excuse.

Whereabouts on Overhill Road was this Gaynor? From what you say about railings I am thinking Dawson's Heights?

Maybe Call the RSPCA to report this
Or to Southwark. Council

How terrible! What sort of person picks on a defenceless animal?!

Just to warn people that the cat killer is still at large and killed a family members cat in the most horrific manner 3 weeks ago in Wallington.

Its not the cat killer its not his MO he decapitates heads and cuts their tails off. I think this is someone as equally twisted but uses a gun and probably not as prolific.

I am sorry to hear about the cat in Wallington...did they report this to SNARL?

Yes, I agree Shanny that people still take pot-shots at defenceless animals for whatever reason, who knows!

As far as I know SNARL must have been alerted to this latest terrible killing as was reported to the police.

You reported online?

Jeez, pick up the phone.

Person with gun = you telephone Police.

Not sure why every single animal related thread on here must always reference the famed cat killer.

Don't think it's every thread, but this one naturally came around to this.

If it makes people aware that somebody is still killing cats and other animals out there I can't see the problem.

It's not a problem, it is worth mentioning, the problem is that the idiot sneering flocker spotter has some silly need to try to put everyone down. It's very sad.
