Book Clubs in ED or surrounding areas

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I'm looking for an evening book club in either East Dulwich or the surrounding areas (Peckham, Brixton, Herne Hill etc). I'm 27yrs old, so looking for an evening book club which can often been accompanied with a glass of wine and a side of humour.

If anyone has any recommendations, please let me know :)

Thanks,

Sophie

Yep, I?d also be interested in either joining an existing one or starting a new one for ED, having bought way too many books for a week away, I?ve got a backlog to get through (and accompanying reading with discussion and wine sounds great).

This fantastic series [surely deserved a third season!] should get you in the mood

Both Radio 2 and 4 have book clubs:

Even the World Service has one:

Here is a warning against the evils of booze and book clubs; as ED residents are well known for their love of grog, I doubt this piece's findings will have any real effect!

Would post more from other sites, but am on the bus. Good luck with the club, maybe do a podcast or at least a blog with twitter/hipstergram account to share thoughts on what you are reading?

Thanks for posting the link to our site. I run the East Dulwich WI Bookclub with Kirsten Ing.

We currently have a great age cross section - from late 20s to 60s and we combine our club with having a curry and a great chat! We currently have 11 members with roughly 7 to 8 attending each event.

We do accept non WI members in or Bookclub so please do feel free to message me if you are interested in getting involved.

We choose books democratically 2 months in advance to give everyone plenty of chance to fit in reading around schedules.

All of our dates and details are on the website including reviews of our last few books. Please do follow the East Dulwich WI on Facebook or Twitter to keep up to date with all of our posts.

Edited to add: Please do feel free to drop me a line if you'd like any advice about setting up or running a new book club, there are certainly some things we have figured out over the years that we could pass on :)

    • Available from Monday April 8th 2024, 2on2Walkies take pride in doggie care and only walk 2 furry friends at a time. I make sure that they get plenty of doggie interaction and socialisation in the park as well as making friends. Back home happy and tired I always check that the water bowl has fresh water and always make sure the doggie is left comfortable before I leave. I'm fully insured and have a couple of slots available for local walks to either Peckham Rye Park or Dulwich Park.  Thank you!
    • Why would they only send them recorded delivery? I used the signed for option yesterday.
    • > however I know I will have to prove it and provide a receipt,  both I can't provide. So what leads you to say that the dustmen have done damage to it?
