They need someone to check the queue with the parcel list (triage type thing) if the queues are going to remain this long.

Pissups and breweries spring to mind.

we receive our post in batches, normally once a week we will get a weeks worth of post rammed through the letterbox!

I've had Post twice this week, 8 items in one go.

SE22-Newbie

yup!, ran out and complained to the postman on Sat after he rammed a weeks worth of post though my letter box ripping half of it.

His response? incredulity followed by:

"you can always make a complaint"

probably won't ever get a delivery again.

Another parcel missing this week. Ebay seller had to refund, poor chap.

Collected a parcel on Thursday and noticed the collection card displayed extended opening times on most days but forgot to ask whether this was just for the Christmas period. However did inquire about whether there was still any outstanding post from Silvester Rd and they suggested that most of it should have been delivered by now due to having limited storage space.

Yesterday I received a card for a missed tracked delivery which had to be signed for so I arranged for a redelivery on Saturday when I knew I'd be in.

Just got in and it's been delivered today(Friday), it was just put through the letterbox, not signed for.

Can't decide whether this is good service or appalling service. It's getting to the stage now where I'm just happy to get deliveries without having to hike to Highshore road.

This week I have received deliveries (so far) each day (Monday to Friday) and I know of nothing now outstanding. I have also received communication from the office of 'The Chairman and Chief Executive' which indicates that the problem is known about at that level, and that they believe (hope?) it is being addressed. Of course, promises of improvement have still to be met by delivery of same, but I am slightly more hopeful than I have been. Hopes and expectations can always be dashed of course.

I've had no post since Monday. There's Christmas cards that haven't arrived yet and I'm still travelling to central London to collect foreign magazines instead of the postal sub.

We've made the Guardian:

Presumably an advantage to having the Guardian editor, Kath Viner, living in SE15, and experiencing the same problems!

The most guardian thing ever - a fr Not page story on their website about a rich area of London losing a delivery office. Love how apparently it takes an hour to get to Peckham though . .

Went there on sat and it was a,long queue, but no longer than what Iíve had at the silvester road one.

Not everyone in this area is rich and how long the journey to Peckham takes very much depends on where you live! I live near Sylvester rd so even if I had to queue for ages, it was easier than taking two buses each way to Peckham. You could also drive to Sylvester.

I know not all more, just thought it revealed who the guardian is catering for!

If you lived in central London it wouldnít take an hour to go to Peckham.

It is annoying, but it really isnít that bad. In 2018 canít expect 1960s services to operate in the same way. My only objection is that they didnít add in more counters at Peckham

Love how apparently it takes an hour to get to Peckham though . . I think this is just typical Guardian poor subbing, as earlier in the piece it refers to '30 minutes walk' - I think the piece should have read an hour-long round trip by bus - which would make more sense - with waiting times it may well be from many parts of ED.

In Southwark, 60% of households don't have access to a car. Page 11 [content.tfl.gov.uk]

Door to door from from Mount Adon Road it's about a 40 minute walk. The bus would shave maybe 10 minutes off that during peak times, so not far off to say an hour round trip.

Two buses? I also live near Sylvester Road. I get the 12 from Barry Road if going to Peckham by bus (but I've not had to go to the delivery office yet, thank goodness).

Just a quick heads up if you were due to collect an item today and received a non delivery card yesterday. They've displayed notices indicating items are unlikely to be available today due to a system fault.

Taking 10-14 days for post to arrive with me right now! And the postmen we've got delivering are shockingly bad. Had post for west Norwood address yesterday, its miles away!! We always get next doors, they get ours, someone comes from 3 streets down. Its become a nightmare.

I donít understand why we havenít been allocated regular posties. I had post twice last week and my bank statements are always 10 days late.

I have the same issues... Post once a week if we are lucky. Post for a different address on multiple occasions and even a parcel for another address that required a signature shoved through our letter box! It must be nearly 2 months since the sorting office closed and still no improvement.

Either no-one's sending us any cards this Christmas, or something is very wrong with the delivery.

Hi all,

Martha here from ITV LONDON.

We are looking to report on what has been happening to your post and the closure of the East Dulwich depot on the news tomorrow.

I am looking to speak to as many of you that have been effected as possible.

I have put in a bid to speak to Helen Hayse who I understand has been leading the campaign.

I also also requested to speak to someone from Royal Mail.

Please get in contact if you would be happy to speak to us - Martha.langan@itn.co.uk

Thanks so much!
Martha

I was thinking the exact same thing - one card from Japan so far and none from the UK! Luckily international parcels have been sent by DHL etc.

noticed that - at least they have journalists taking note of ED smiling smiley

I think on the hours round trip it would include walking to the bus stop - going back in to check you turned the lights off - walking out again - waiting for the bus - travelling on the bus - a queue up East Dulwich Road and jostling through the crowd on Rye Lane. So probably is 30 mins each way.

Still waiting for a parcel that was sent on 5 December by Royal Mail - nearly two weeks now...
