I dont want to sound like a bite-back guy here , but...

I drive vans too , If 'someone' has 'screwdriver'ed' this persons all-four-tyres , or - or for any other reason why one or more tyres are flat , maybe this chap/gal may not be able to so-quickly repair the damage ...

maybe they are being harassed , intimidated or bullied [ for example ] or - or in every day of the real world , they just do not have the available cash/funds/credit to get it back to roadworthy standards yet .

As a van driver , I offer a word of advice , give them time to naturally get it fixed or/and leave a note of the windshield of the van [ even stated - in a polite manner , that it may get towed by the council under abandoned vehicles rules etc ] .

If the note is missing the next day or two , they would have got the message , and if you added your number on it too , they would probably text/call you to inform you that they intend to fix it in due course [ maybe if and when they can afford to do so .

Patience is a great virtue :-)

The van was broken into some nights ago - there appears to be a spate of it at the moment in the surrounding roads. The thieves ransacked the van, stealing tools and removed the whole ignition. Apparently they have a system whereby from the ignition they can connect it to a computer and return a few days later, put it back in and drive away with the van. The owner has deliberately let the air out of the tyres to prevent them from driving the van away. He has already lost money from stolen tools, had to buy an expensive wheel and pedal locks and has to replace the whole ignition which as you can imagine is very expensive. Add this to the fact he?s losing money from not having his van for work and you can understand why it may take him some time to get the van back up and running.

Thank You for the update SebsC - I personally appreciate it ! ...

Folks , you see what I mean here ?

There are soooo many people on this forum , so judgmental , and abusive to motorbike and van users/owners , who is going to do your servicing if you CONTINUE to PUSH these hard working people OUT ?!

I will answer that for you , either large companies who dont really care about YOUR needs , and apart from that , nobody else !

There is a reasonable explanation , this why you are seeing 'tatty' vans on the road , the list is long but in recent times of change and lawlessness , this will be YOUR NEW 'norms' - All i can suggest is 'get used to it' and 'be prepared [even emotionally]' for more of this kind of thing .

Vans being broken into , Mercedes , Ford , Vauxhall and Citreon , all being stolen to be shipped abroad , the ones in order of majority are , Bulgaria , Africa , Romania , Poland .

I have been informed of 11 of my friends vans broken into , mostly in Peckham , Nunhead , and Catford , Lewisham and Bromley and it burns me to think I could be next :-(

I [hope] soon we get to a stage in Britain and we are allowed to take special measures in order to protect ourselves from this , or soon , without the police or government consent/approval EVERYONE will [and just might at this rate] be 'carrying' guns with LIVE ammo .

It is a sad world we live in today .

It's not about dislike, it's about usability. If the average person / majority or people looked at the thread title will they know what the message is about? If not then edit the title to be more user friendly.

We're aware some of you don't like it and therefore think it's ok pop up on threads about vans to get your message across but please remember it's a forum for lots of people. Most like to know what the message is about before they click the link in the "main" section, we know that from user research.

It's not about dislike, it's about usability. If the average person / majority of people looked at the thread title will they know what the message is about? If not then edit the title to be more user friendly. The forum's not on the best software nor mobile friendly so it's a pain to some to have to do a few extra clicks to find out.

The OP which was amended now says "you have 4 flats tyres" :))

Sorry, but you must admit it is quite amusing :))

BTW I think it would be useful if a note was put on a post to say where it had been edited by admin.

The original post has not been edited by Admin, only the title. If the message had been edited there would be a note to say so.

We copied and pasted "you that you have 4 flats tyres" instead of "You have 4 flats tyres" from the message.

Edited to add: we like to keep text from the original message if we're expanding the title to be more explanatory, even if they have grammatical errors.

Thank you SebsC for your informative and considered post.

It did seem strange to see a large modern van with 4 flat tyres, which is why I started this thread.

You seem to know the owner so I do hope he is able to get his van back in service without further hassle.
