Melbourne Grove Medical Practice

I think it is pot luck, there are some truly terrific reception staff, and then there are some who need to move on. One of the things I have notice recently is a turn over of supply GPs, and the GPs often review medication on your repeat. If there is medication which can be purchased over the counter, or what the GP feels you dont need, the medication without warning will be removed from your repeat perscrption, so you will hear of this practice when you next request medication.

Last month there was a lot of supply GPs, I gave the usual 48 hours notice for a repeat medication, and went to the pharmacy to be told i had to visit melbourne grove. I went there, and the prescrption was at reception, i asked why the prescription was not with the pharmacy, and told they they only had supply GPs on today. Haf to return back to the pharmacy!!

Finally, are you aware the practice is moving to East Dulwich community hospital? we as neighbours received a letter from the practice, which stated "as your aware" and provided us with the information, it was the first myself and neighbours were made aware of the move.

So answer to your question, this company does have problems.

They have very few GPs. One permanent female GP

A clinical lead who is only there 2 days a week as he is dealing with all

Of the parent company?s other acquisitions. A locum GP, and another formerly full time GP who is now 1 day a week.

Agree. Deeply worrying. I believe that bids were sought. That?s all I know. There?s an organisation called Southwark Healthwatch who told me about this.

Try booking an appointment online - i made an appointment a while ago by phone and the earliest date they could give me was two weeks away. A few days before the date i realised I couldn't make it so went online to reschedule and i was actually given an earlier day!

You'll have to call the surgery to get a code to register to do it online but once you have it it seems easier and faster.

Is this the Patient Access Online application ? - I booked one appointment using it last year but I need to pop in to register it before I can book more.

Yes, that's what I used and it seemed to work for me the one time i used it - they gave me a code in the surgery then i registered and made the appointment at home about a week later. Maybe they registered me for it when i first went in. Not tried it since, but just t complicate matters further, when I later phoned them to ask for a referral for an annual blood test they gave me a completely different link to contact them about that - http://www.mgmp.co.uk/

I've been trying to see the female GP there for a while, but with no luck.

On the day, arrive just before 8pm and wait for the doors to open, you should get an appointment later that morning.

I was told that walk ins get priority over calls, but that seems unfair if a patient is ill at home and can't make it to the surgery that early.

Call just before 12, for the afternoon/eve appointments, but I've tried this and never get through.

I've logged onto the patient access app, some appointments there for early June, but none with the female Dr.

Once you see a nurse/Dr, I've always found the care to be excellent, it's just getting that initial appointment.I'm probably going to move to the Gardens.

Sadly I am not in the Gardens catchment area.
