Dog Fouling - message from local Police.

Recommended Posts

Received this from SNT.

It has been brought to Police attention that there is dog fouling occurring around the Goodrich School area, SE22. Please be advised that it's illegal and dangerous to public's health, especially for young children as it can cause serious illness. It is the dog owner's or the person in charge of the dog(s) responsibility to clean dog waste properly and dispose of it safely. Failure to do so may render you, the dog owner or person in charge of the dog(s), with a penalty notice of fine. For repeat offenders the Council will prosecute and if convicted then you may face a fine of up to ?1,000. REPORT Dog Fouling: https://www.southwark.gov.uk/street-care/dog-fouling. Send the Council any footage of dog fouling - it's evidence. #DulwichHill

but surely it's dangerous to public health everywhere? Young children aren't just found around schools!

Whilst that's true, the Pareto Principle (80:20 Rule) would suggest that concentrating on areas around schools would have a greater impact on children than random sweeps - given any fixed resource. Poo around schools has a much higher chance of impacting children than just randomly in streets away from schools.

I have lived near Goodrich School for over 20 years and dog fouling has been an infuriating and ongoing issue. When my children attended the school, I used to occasionally put up hand written notices to remind dog owners to pick up. Last year I actually provided poo bags on the lamp post outside my house - nobody used them. As I dog owner myself and a resident of Dunstans Rd, very close to the school, I am both perplexed and miffed.

All the dog owners I know in the area always pick up, so I can't imagine who is doing this. I might add that after having often picked up poo outside my house I realise that it is sometimes fox poo - it has a unique smell. However, it's also clear that there are some very thoughtless dog owners out there too.

The old teddy boy who lives on Goodrich Rd has let his incontinent dogs poo over East Dulwich for the last 15 years to my knowledge.

When I have confronted him on a number of occasions he?s told me to

?f-off and die?

Badly brought up, incorrigible miscreant, must be well-known to the police who, quite frankly, have better things to do
