Anybody know why blue recycling bins have not been emptied for the best part 4 weeks along Darrell Road and surrounding areas? Saw a few nearby streets get collected this week but practically overflowing down here.

You can report a missed collection/missed collections online at:

Similar here, reported it as suggested above two weeks ago and got the standard "we will resolve it in two working days" ... Then nothing

Lol maybe it's art of a plot by Southwark to make us pay for all recycling 🤐

'Lol maybe it's art of a plot by Southwark to make us pay for all recycling 🤐'

Don't give them any ideas!!!!

I have never had a problem with them coming round after a reported missed collection, but maybe I've been lucky so far on the couple of occasions I've had to chase them up.

Local councillor intervention???

It's the same in West Dulwich although they finally came and emptied them today. Thought it was just my street which had been missed but clearly a more widespread problem.

James
Tomorrow is blue bin day for some of those who were missed two weeks ago

If tomorrow they aren't collected (again) then your offer makes sense

They have been changing some of the routes and the teams on existing routes, so I suspect cock-up rather than conspiracy. New crews are still learning their routes and roads.

Ours were collected but every single bin was dumped on the pavement after. This is the first time so the crew must of changed. Are they supposed to put them back in the garden?

yes, Mscrawthew.

I don't think they have to put them back in your garden, ours are not on my road & it says on the leaflets that you are supposed to leave your bin outside your garden for their collection too.

ours wasn't collected week before last, it was also full up to the top so I reported a missed collection online & they came & emptied it the next day.

Looks like a systematic failure in recycling collections at the moment, brown bin emptied early this morning but so far no sign of blue bin being emptied for anyone in my street

we had our blue bin emptied about an hour ago but not the green, hopefully they will tomorrow as reported

They came around this evening & whilst ours were collected, they were still missing a couple of houses.

Has anybody managed to get through to the council & find out exactly what's going on lately? Bizarre. :S

I downsized from a blue bin to a box and it was not emptied for three weeks, despite three phone calls to complain. The woman on the line the third time said lots of people were calling in with complaints.

But she couldn't give you an explanation?

The blue bin crew on my run this morning were all new (to this route) and only one person on the brown bin lorry was part of the regular crew on my run. Crews and routes are clearly being changed (and Southwark said as much in their circular) although my collection dates haven't changed, just the people doing the collection.

Hopefully this will all settle down soon and proper collections will resume, but, with the new system starting next week (but most of the necessary impedimenta - new bins and stickers - not yet having been issued) don't hold your breath. My brown bin man says take-up of paid for garden collections has been low across the borough, but of course many residents are not blessed with gardens in the north. He didn't know what the take-up was specifically in the Dulwichs.

My fear is that we will see a lot more dumping and hijacking of legitimate large brown bins by those choosing not to pay.

....and watch the anticipated big price rise next year for the audacity of having a brown garden RECYCLING bin, enabling the Council to compost on a large scale and then sell it back to us.

It looks like dustbins have replaced suitcases & are becoming the latest trend; I can't tell you how many people I saw dragging them down the street today.

Some Bins on Grove Lane haven't been done for 2 weeks now either, and overflowing and onto the streets, I would like a reimbursement for my missed collection of my refuse. I love my council! great service for cheap price hey!

Is your collection assisted or not ?
Assisted means they enter the property to get the bin out and put it back in
If not then you get it out and pull it back In
Bins are collected from outside of the property and bin man is not a milkman who will know on your door and tell you good morning and ask where do you want it

Let's just say one thing
If you report miss collection
The crew that does the round gets the message on their on-board computer
- Yes they do have them - trucls are fitted GPS and they are also able to tell every time that the truck stops and how long for
Every truck is fitted with cctv 4 cameras on each side for evidence
...
What I'm trying to say is
Every truck has pre programmed route
And time and unless there is no obstructions
They work like a Swiss watch
(If the truck can't get in , they can't get in)
If your bin is not beeing emptied on the day and time when it usually is
Then you need to ask yourself 2 questions
1) is there access
2) is my bin out
- Oh yeah
They are paid to collect bins that are out
Not inside your front garden
Speak to the council and ask if the collection is from the property (garden is your private property)
Or from outside the property
(I'm sure it's outside - otherwise council would be sued for millions in damages to grass , slabs , gates etc)
-
My point is
Get your bin out
And boys will empty it

I live in a block of 6 flats at the junction of Landcroft/Pellatt Roads - we have a communal 4 wheeled ie large bin

which was last collected on May 21st, next collection was due 4th June.

I have reported the missed collection last week and again today - and the occupant of another flat has reported it at least twice.

From the Southwark website: - Missed Collection Order Completed
Thank you for your report of a missed waste collection. This will be investigated and actioned within 2 working days.
Your reference number is MIS-21483

Does anyone know if any of our local councillors are worth contacting about this (or even Helen Hayes MP) ??
