Dead fox over Greendale

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I found a decapitated fox over Greendale this morning. Just a heads up as my dogs were extremely interested in it and I had to drag them away. It's over the bit that's really overgrown so easily avoided. Quite a horrific sight. Can't think what would've done that to it.

😒😞

I was up at 5am this morning and looked out our window to see a fix running along Wanley road with what I thought might have been a cat in its mouth...it was huge with a long tail but I couldn?t see well enough to really confirm. Maybe it was another fox and perhaps they had been fighting or something? There are a huge amount of them that live in the green space.

Is that the mythical human that kills cats and other small to medium sized mammals, or just someone's dog? Or perhaps a car that hit it...

Probably better to tell the council.

It?s a long way from a road and doesn?t look like it?s got any bite wounds but it?s head is missing and it?s been partially skinned. Not sure what would cause these injuries but it?s a bit alarming and definitely sad as it was a lovely fox that I often saw while walking my dog.

I noticed the partial skinning too.

I have been in touch with SNARL and they asked me to take more photos today (a thoroughly unpleasant job) I have sent them the photos and they will take a look and decide if they need to investigate further.

    • I think insurance scams do happen but I thought there had been a crackdown on them recently. In the past insurance companies seemed to just pay out and everyone's premium goes up to cover it. My partner was a victim a few years ago, she was parking and touched a bumper of the next car. There was no mark and the other driver just waved my partner away. A month later we received a letter claiming there were four people in the other car and two of them were so badly injured they could not work. Our insurer was a rare one that actually fought the case and pretty much on the steps of the court the scammers "dropped hands" and case was closed. i thought at the time that was a good result but I later saw that my insurer had run up a Β£2000 legal bill and didn't get to ask for costs as there was no court case – we didn't have to pay it but again, it's this sort of thing that pushes all premiums up. And no action was taken against the other party despite them clearly being scammers who were revealed to have done this before and had effectively admitted their own statements were a pack of lies. Sorry to hijack your thread, just getting this off my chest as your post brought it all flooding back! Β
