New businesses on the lane

Recommended Posts

Really though? From the top of the street the following properties are empty (pre CPZ)

The building previously part of the Maudsley trust (double fronted building onto Lship lane)

The old French caf?

The old Threshers

The building next to SMBS is a constant pop up at the moment but has been closed on and off for years

Dulwich Tandoori

Lush Designs

Might have missed some but off the top of my head those stand out.

The old French House is now Sylvesters.

Threshers finally looks like it's being renovated after years of being empty (following a cannabis farm getting busted in the flat above it)

The Building next to SMBS has a deliberate business model / offer as a space for rotating places I think.

Lush Designs is indeed empty at present

The Maudsley site isn't a retail unit.

In addition there have been a flurry of new openings.

Personally, I think LL is doing pretty well. Will be interesting to see what happen post brexit though.

Dulwich Tandoori isn't empty? Had a meal there last week.

Also just heard that Aneto is closing (by Goose Green) - my point on this is not that the 'Lane is in decline' - but more to flag that the increasing rates is generally pushing some businesses out and there is continual turnover.

Sylvesters appears to be some kind of bar / pizza place. No one seems to know what the old Threshers will be.

Think this may be more to do with poor management since they expanded into the bigger premises. Used to love going in there as it's on the doorstep but on recent visits experienced loud music which they refused to change or turn down, slow service etc and not replying to customers online so a large part of this is down to customers voting with their feet round here as there is so much choice rather than a general decline.

As far as I know this lovely lady will be relocating to another premises in Lordship Lane which is to be confirmed. If we don't support our independents then big companies will take over. I love Sogem's, always friendly and willing to help and advise at the drop of a hat. Please support local business!
