messageTwo Suspicious Men Knocking at my Door
Posted by Tractorlad November 05, 01:14PM

Maybe Iím just paranoid but I just had two gents knocking at my door looking for someone that doesnít live here.

I have the interaction on camera and reviewing the footage my suspicions seem to be confirmed.

Two IC3 males late 20s in smart tracksuits (if such a thing exists) with matching black baseball caps. One knocked at my door whilst the other steps back casually holding his phone to his ear and studies the alarm half way up the side of my house. The other then tries the front door handle and spots my camera so steps back and adjusts his cap. They obviously donít expect an answer so are surprised when I open the door. One mutters something about Donna being in, there is no Donna. I then challenge them on trying the door handle. They tell me they thought it was a a flat! What difference that makes I have no idea. Anyhow itís a semi, one knocker, one door bell. No way would you think it a flat. I stepped into the garden and purposefully watched them leave.

Iím worried what might have happened had I not been a home. Maybe overly suspicious on my part but my wife saw the video on her phone from work and commented the same without me prompting. Please be vigilant.

Sounds like they are casing your place

just incase they try to push in

Maybe send the picture to your local safer neighbourhoods team and a summary of what you've typed here. There have been a bit of a spate of vehicle robberies involving break ins recently.

Just give us a general location of your home?

Not paranoid. I had a similar thing a year or so ago. Didn't think to do anything about it at the time but then found out the neighbour across the street had been burgled the same day, so I wish I'd acted on my instincts. Report it to the police.

No, i haven't reported it. I'm not sure who to and quite frankly I doubt the authorities would be interested

You could report it to your local SNT or 101. There is even a facility to report onlie to the Met Police. They might know the faces and in any event it all goes to building up local intelligence.

Why do you describe them as IC3?

So why not just say black?

I think the point chick was making is most people do not know what ic3 means and it would be clearer if they said black.
this video comes to mind :

Why was that still taken down? Report it to 101 or online.

why did you open the door.

I don't know why people do - I usually just ask through the door who it is and say "I'll get my husband....he's in the garden with his friends, hold on", or "I can't open the door, the dog's going mad"

Is it normal for people to not answer their door when someone knocks at it? I did not know this!

Yes I think its normal not to open your door to strangers especially if your not expecting anyone And eespecially if you have never seen them before.

No way would I open the door to two unknown men.

I think it does matter. I suspect the OP was concerned about being called racist. Describing the men as "black men" would be perfectly reasonable.

Nor me!

Though if it's dark I usually shout through the door "Who is it?" if I'm not expecting anybody ......

I opened the door so they knew someone was in and they were rumbled. I live on a busy road and it was the middle of the day. I escorted them out of my garden.

Weíve just had 2 reasonably well dressed ladies knock our door and ask if we know anyone who speaks Portuguese! When told no they disappeared pretty quickly. We are on Ulverscroft rd. Anyone had anything similar today? Seems really odd!

Yes, had the same question about Portuguese on Underhill a few days ago, very odd.

49,000 British people living in Portugal and 36,000 Portuguese people living in Britain. Maybe not so odd
