messageCar windows smashed on Oglander Road
Posted by twinhunters January 25, 01:28PM

My daughterís boyfriendís car window was smashed last night. Only noticed this morning at 9am, did any one see or hear anything? Or any other car break ins. Smashed two of the windows but only taken a pair of trainers from the back.

Mine was also done on the same night. Again, the value of the items taken was far less than the £75 insurance excess I had to pay to get the window fixed. Very annoying.

Yep, our car also had a window smashed last Friday night- ours was parked on the corner of Felbrigg and Bawdale road.... rather surprisingly, they didnít even bother to steal the IPod or small change from the console.

Advice on the police thread: Park in a well lit area as close to your property as possible. LOL - do they know what parking is like around Oglander Road?

The chances of parking near your property if you return home before 6:30pm are pretty impossible. So, unless you go out and move your car after all the commuters have gone, you are stuck with your car far from home in any nook or cranny you can squeeze into.

So I'm confused - are these people smashing windows for fun or are they doing it to nick stuff? One poster above said they didn't steal the iPod or small change that was left in sight. So is it just mindless vandalism?

Really sorry to all who have had their cars smashed but do hope you report them all to the police...NOT because they will be able to do anything, but because we must get crimes recorded accurately so that when allocating resources, they take this upsurge of crime into consideration.

2 on Ondine Road 2 nights ago (Monday 3rd)

Is there any information that can help narrow down the time of night that any of these took place?

Are these windscreens or side windows that are being smashed? What is being used to break the window's, brick's or some other object/method?

messageRe: Car windows smashed on Oglander Road

The two I saw were small windows on passenger doors, both older cars..

I heard the 'No Waiting' cones have been used on Hindmans Road (the ones Conway put out while the pavement works are ongoing), which suggests mindless vandalism. The 'pros' generally use something like a centre punch to create a hole through which they can access the inside door handle.

Neighbours think Ondine Rd ones were 10pm.
1 theft, one had a hole in every single window so maybe targeted or vandalism

maybe police should patrol for a few nights , itís awful to think so many cars being vandalised, probably same person/people
