The ideal-homes website has disappeared - but I've got the photo and I'm going to put it on flickr - with or without permission.

My ancesters (the Roberts family) lived at 2 Heber Road from 1900 to 1912. They must have gone to the school and (later) the pub as well.

I went to look at a flat there when we first moved into the area a few years back. It was one of the flats at the front and in the bedroom was the cellar door in the floor, leading down to where the beer was kept. The cellar door was in the wardrobe. It freaked me out a little. All old places especially pubs have their ghosts. I didn't fancy laying awake of a night hearing things moving about in the cellar! And it had alot of the old pub furniture still down there with God knows what else lurking in the cornor. Interesting. It was a bit of a turn off that the girl showing the property refused to take us down to the cellar. She insisted on waiting upstairs....

Hi

I have just found this site and it was great to find the photo of The Heber Arms the pub that i had for eight years. I am sure there are many locals that can remember many a good night they had spent in The Heber Arms From 1981-1989. Are you still out there?

Hello

Not sure if I'm allowed to revive old posts?... first post on this forum :o)

I've been off work sick for a few days and have been reading lots of posts on here and, feeling a bit better today, went for a walk to find The Heber Arms. I've attached a picture of it as it stands today.

I'm getting quite obsessive about places that used to be pubs around SE22, since almost everywhere I look around the backstreets there seems to be good candidates for old pubs or shops.
