sociable cycle ride June 16th 9.30am

Recommended Posts

this is one of Southwark Cyclists Saturday Healthy Rides. You don't need to be healthy to take part (or unhealthy for that matter). The is idea is to enjoy cycling, see a bit of London and be marginally more healthy and a lot more relaxed at the end of it. It's called a Healthy Ride +Plus because it takes longer to go further.

the ride starts at the Greenwich Foot Tunnel, beside Cutty Sark and ends in the same place at 1pm. The ride will be done anti-clockwise along the north bank first via Foot Tunnel, and then a return on south bank. The northern route passes lots of interesting places: Millwall docks, Royal Victoria Dock, London City airport, and the Thames flood barrier.

Then it's back south on the Woolwich Ferry. There will be a stop to admire views from the Tor (see pic for random group of cyclists doing just this). A coffee stop will be fitted in somewhere. The pace will be nice and easy with lots of off road, and no hills, apart from the Tor. Come and enjoy one of our most popular routes.

Maps of the route are attached along with a map of the spiral up the Tor. The ride is organised by Bruce Lynn on behalf of Southwark cyclists. We are the borough branch of the London Cycling Campaign which campaigns for safe, enjoyable cycling. Our website is here: https://southwarkcyclists.org.uk
