Family ride to the Freecycle in central London August 3rd

Recommended Posts

This is the Freecycle https://southwarkcyclists.org.uk/freecycle/. It covers a goodly chunk of the bits of central London that draw the tourists. This Saturday the roads will be closed completely to motors and open to cyclists of all ages. The map of the route is here: https://ridelondon.s3.eu-west-2.amazonaws.com/production/uploads/cms_page_media/34/2019-Prudential-RideLondon-FreeCycle-map.pdf. It's free and open to all. You can register but you don't have to. Registration means you get a number to stick on your bike and then if the official photographers en route snap you, you have a chance of finding your photo.

All that is very easy. Getting there is still the tricky bit. Southwark Cyclists run a feeder ride up from Peckham Rye park to the main event with a pick up point at the cafe in Burgess Park on the way. The feeder ride is led by an experienced and trained ride leader supported by experienced marshals. The aim is to keep the group together, keep everyone safe and get everyone up to town and back again having experienced nothing but fun.

Details of the feeder ride are here: https://southwarkcyclists.org.uk/events/freecycle-ride-to-central-london-2/. For more information or advice you can email [email protected], tweet @southwarkcycle or text 07842 640 207 (me). I probably won't know the answer but I will be able to find out. It's all free and as welcoming as we can make it. Just turn up. No need to book. You can make up your mind when you see the weather on the day.
