Wonder Day 2019 at the Integrated Waste Management Facility

Recommended Posts

Calling all curious residents who have ever wondered what happens to their waste after it has been thrown away; the Wonder Open Day is the time to find out!

Saturday 21 September, 10am to 4pm, Southwark IWMF, 43 Devon Street, SE15 1AL

The Southwark Integrated Waste Management Facility is a feat of modern design and engineering. Built to deal with over 200,000 tonnes of waste annually, the facility separates Southwark?s mixed recycling ready to be turned into something new. All black bag waste from the borough is brought to the facility and turned into a low carbon fuel, which provides energy to the National Grid, and heating for around 2,800 Southwark homes via a district heating network.

On Saturday 21 September, tours of the facility will take place throughout the day. Join us for a thought-provoking day that will show you how your waste is actually a resource that can help us build a sustainable future.
