sociable cycle ride to Lord Mayor's Show

This is part of Southwark Cyclists regular series of Saturday morning rides. This one, on November 9th, starts at 10:00 in Deal Porter Square, next to Canada Water Library, opposite Canada Water Station, SE16 7AR. It takes two hours over a easy paced trip up to the City on super-quiet roads to ride some of the procession route for the Lord Mayor's Show. There is a window after the roads are closed but before the floats and coaches get going. We enjoy that. Our ride leader, Werner, is an expert at picking the right moment and riders usually get to see a bit of the parade and of course they can stay and watch it all.

The cycle route from East Dulwich Station to Canada Water Station is here: https://cycle.travel/map/journey/131783. I chose to start at the station because everyone knows where it is but you can amend the map to start at your home address. Just log in to cycle.travel and use your own road. If cycling to Canada Water and then round the City seems a bit much, then there's walk-on access for bikes at East Dulwich Station and you can switch to the Overground across the platform in Peckham Rye (no steps). At Canada Water there are excellent lifts which take three bikes at a time.

These rides are organised by Bruce Lynn and friends on behalf of Southwark Cyclists. Our website is here: https://southwarkcyclists.org.uk/. We are the borough branch of the London Cycling Campaign. Their website is here: https://lcc.org.uk/?ref=nav. Everything we do is free and open to all. Contact us on [email protected], tweet us @southwarkcycle or text me on 07842 640 207. Enjoy
