This is possible, I'm told. The ride lasts two hours (back at 12) and is "undulating" but not fast. The planning team spent time poring over the contour maps to work out the flattest route. It's not perhaps entirely flat, I'm told that "a bit hilly" is a reasonable description but it works. The ride starts and ends at the Dulwich Clock Cafe, Dulwich Park (SE21 7BQ) so there may be a bit of "up" to start with, depending on where you start from.

The carefully planned route is mostly on quiet backstreets. Riders go out through Tulse Hill and along Valley Road to Streatham, then round the west of the Common and up to Rookery Cafe. If all is going well, there should be time for a short coffee break before returning up through the Common to Leigham Court Road and quiet streets to Norwood Park. There will be a slight detour to criss-cross the park, then down Gypsy Road, the Paxton Green roundabout, and Alleyn Park Road, back to the start. The route is here:

This series of Saturday morning rides is organised by Bruce Lynn and friends on behalf of Southwark Cyclists. Our website is here: https://southwarkcyclists.org.uk. We are the borough branch of the London Cycling Campaign and their website is here: https://lcc.org.uk. You can contact us on [email protected]; tweet us @southwarkcycle or text Bruce on 07729 279 945. Or better still, just turn up. Everything we do is free and open to all. Welcome aboard.
